  1. Also, Nelson with two doubles and two HR today. OPS for the season now well over .900

I’ve been reading a lot more lately on MiLB, and not seeing much positive about him as a prospect. Is there a possibility he’s a thing?

He's the one that went bonkers in the Arizona Fall League. He's probably not a guy. But there's some chance.

Yeah, the bonkers in the AFL and still hitting is why I ask. He just keeps hitting.

  2. The Joey Votto open mike night on the ESPN broadcast was fascinating and unnerving at the same time. He just never shuts up, live talking to the booth through every pitch.

Also, what a soulless shopping mall the Braves stadium is. I’ve been to a game there. The whole thing is like a chic mall in rich suburbia.

  3. So, so glad Krzyzewski is out the picture, the media lovefest on Monday night would have been out of hand and completely nauseous. Although, I'm certain TBS will find some way to sanctify him tomorrow night.

I honestly am pretty surprised that the refs let Duke lose last night.

  4. Was Payton going too mad-scientist with him? Good for Allen to park him in his best spot and see what he can do. I would have been open to him in the Bears coaching cycle. He knew how to stop Brady, and had that defense rolling in general

100%. In the words of Payton's mentor, Bill Parcells, Sean sometimes "gets a little too cute". Don't get me wrong, he is maybe the best offensive playcaller of his generation, but sometimes he couldn't leave well enough alone. The double reverse to Reggie Bush in field goal range against the Bucs always comes to mind. Or the times when prime Brees would be rolling and Taysom would come in and kill all rhythm on offense.

I am cautiously optimistic that a HC Dennis Allen with Pete Carmichael continuing as OC will be most of the good things about Payton without the head scratcher moments. Putting Taysom into a roll that fits his skill set is a great sign.

  5. RIP-Taysom Hill's QB career.

As expected, the chatter last offseason regarding Taysom's contract was much ado about nothing. All that money is not guaranteed and only kicks in if he's the QB. I do think he couyld be a really useful TE, though.

I watched part of the game he started at QB last year, there may have been a couple. I never paid much attention to him, but my god he is athletic.

I always said that he was great in a limited role. Think Randal El. Sean Payton fell in love with him and overused him. I do think he could be an awesome TE/slot.

  6. Why would CBS keep them from joining sooner, they'd have to pay more in rights and they didn't want to do that right away?

According to them, it's the SEC's inability to get CBS to renegotiate their TV contract. Years ago, the conference signed what was at the time a mega deal for CBS to broadcast football and some basketball. As years have passed, the SEC thinks that it should be getting more, thus a new deal with ESPN and ABC coming in 2026. Compounding that feud is that the SEC thinks that if they are bringing in two major markets before the current deal ends, they deserve even more money, but CBS isn't budging. Moser added that Texas has all the money in the world to buy their way out of the Big XII schedules and contracts but OU does not. If the SEC struck a new deal with CBS, the conference would basically foot the bill for OU to join right away.

  7. Stopped for a drink on my my home. Multiple wasted college basketball coaches around town. No drunk Calipari or Pitino yet but on the lookout.

The Hofstra head coach is a runaway train.

Post your Venmo and we can make sure you have enough cash to go out drinking every night and report back with more drunk coaches reports.

My wife would not appreciate that. I actually had a pretty cool conversation with Porter Moser and some guy who’s assistant SEC basketball commissioner (something like that). CBS and lots of politics keeping OU and Texas from joining the SEC right away.
