This board (and most of the country) will hate it but we are tracking towards a whole bunch of 10-2/9-3 SEC teams who will think they should be in the playoff

It's a bad year to be, from a purely hypothetical perspective, a 10-2 team from outside the main conferences that every metric says is really good but won't have the resume to back it up

And LSU won’t be in the conversation.  About to get their third loss with @Bama and @Oklahoma still left.

I want more 100% but I’m not going to be all that mad if we don’t empty the farm for guys that may or may not be all that worth it. Even the top end starters available aren’t exactly aces. Good pitchers? Absolutely. #1’s that are shut down? Nah

Don’t disagree, but my issue is that this would be a complete contradiction to the Tucker/Cam deal.  Are you going for it or not?

KB from 2015-2017 was one of the top 3 players in baseball.  Injuries started happening, and the beaning happened, and I honestly think he lost his love for the game.  I love the memories, but the Cubs made the right move, hell the Giants pretty much came to the same conclusion and both were right.   Pains me to say honestly but it's pretty obvious.

I remember a national baseball writer (Gammons?) saying circa 2019 that one of his wishes for the upcoming season was that KB would love playing baseball again.

no, they likely wont, which is why it doesnt make sense to me. The locker room distraction hardly feels like a reason to trade him for bathwater, even if its lots of bathwater

This sounds very much like the Saints basically giving away CJ Gardner-Johnson to the Eagles a few years ago.

    Brady, Manning, Mahomes, Rodgers, Allen…

    Brees, number six.

I’m clearly a Homer, but putting Allen over Brees is madness.  I’d argue Rodgers as well but that’s at least an argument.

Isn't Loomis more of a President Type in actual role? He also manages the Pelicans - is that right? I thought he was the GM for another pro team.

My point is he must be steering the ship but delegating traditional GM responsibilities to Player Personnel types, etc. No way he is doing it all for both teams the way a ordinary GM would

    Is this crazy talk?

He’s been more of a President type for both the Pels and the Saints, but he’s also the one who sets the culture and direction of the org.  He’s STILL saying the Saints are “very close” to contending.  I can understand why an Aaron Glenn or Joe Brady wouldn’t want to take this job.

Also, maybe not his fault, the both the Pels and the Saints have had historically bad injury issues for years.  Everything about the FO seems like they’re stuck in the past.

Brady has opted out of the Saints job. Gonna do the Ben Johnson thing and make everyone want him more next year. I guess that's easy to do when the QB is Josh Allen.

    Come on down, McCarthy?

McCarthy or maybe Kellen Moore, I’m guessing.

The biggest issue with the Saints job is not the cap, which should be right sized a year from now.  It’s that Mickey Loomis is entrenched as GM.  If ever a team needed to rip off the band-aid and start over with new leadership, it in NO.  Gayle Benson is loyal to a fault.

The cap number is kind of meaningless though.  They do have a legit tough cap situation, and what was an old roster 3 years ago is like ancient now, yea.

The cap situation was fine when you’re going for a run every year.  When you suck, you’re that far underwater and all your worst contracts are over 35 years old, it’s a problem.

They have more talent on the roster, but Jets are such a dumpster fire org.

Saints have an old roster with one Pro Bowler (special teams player) and are $80M plus over the cap.  Great, patient ownership is the only draw.

Dennis Allen selection has been praised by several NFL media types on Twitter.

I do love the idea that DA would be head coach/defense while Johnson can be head coach/offense.

Also word that Rizzi will come from NO to be ST Coach.

Fraley possibly coming from Detroit as OL Coach or maybe have to elevate him to OC

    Sean Payton

    Dennis Allen

    Dan Campbell

    Ben Johnson

    Aaron Glenn

    Darren Rizzi

    Joe Brady

The Saints sure have churned out a ton of excellent coaches to have a bare cupboard here.

Is Dennis Allen regarded as a pretty good DC?

DA is an awful head coach, but one of the best defensive coordinators in the league. He’s been patching together a geriatric unit for years into a serviceable defense.  Lots of straight man press coverage, behemoth D lineman.
