  1. What would reasonable expectations for Vizcaino this season? Most of the rotation talk on the board doesnt really include him in the planned rotation with Shark, Wood, Garza and Baker... I understand the need for insurance for the rotation but does he have a better chance than, say wood, to start in the rotation if/when we aquire another starter?
  2. I like renteria as a buy low canidate. He has been one of the better ss in the nl almost every year he has played in the nl. While i appreciate theriots contributions thus far, i like renterias chances of being better down the stretch and in the playoffs
  3. I saw a note at the bottom of an espn article stating the tigers may not pick up his option. What do you think he would cost and would he be worth it?
  4. They may be ok going with barmes and nix up the middle
  5. I brought this up in another thread, but what about taking a flyer on Chad Durbin. He is young enough to have some upside and still not cost a fortune. He is out of options, but he is looking pretty good compared to some of the options out there. My dad and older brother are tigers fans and they seemed pretty high on him. He ran out options and couldnt quite snag a spot in the deep tigers' rotation so they non tendered him.
  6. Any interest in the Tigers' castoff, Durbin, for our fifth starter??
  7. Ok is it just me or does anyone who is trying to make Murton sound good only talk about his OPS from last year and try to make other players seem like just average? Doesn't that say "Career OPS"? All im saying is Murton hasnt started a full year yet...yet u guys are saying Roberts isnt much better than him yet hes a multi-year all-star and probably one of the best leadoff hitters in the major leagues. But he is still just a second basemen. How much of an upgrade is he over Derosa? We like him but we regonize we have greater needs. Derosa(2B), Tejada(SS), Murton(RF) >>> Roberts(2b), Derosa(RF), Theriot (SS)
  8. I am really hoping for Cedeno, Marshall, and EPatt then. I like Murton's value as a capable replacement against injuries too much for such a small improvewment(From Derosa to Roberts)
  9. I like the idea of getting Roberts but I have got to think that Marshall, Murton, and maybe one other should be enough. He is a very good 2nd basemen but is he really a game changer? Because between Marshall and Murton you have two young players who provide solid production at the minimum salary. That has to be very valuable to a few teams out there. I am at work or else I would do it, but could someone show me his numerical value compared to that of Murton and Marshall? If not that is ok. I am not an expert on Roberts, but is he really going to impact things that much?
  10. For all of the crap we give Hendry and co. I would not have guessed that the Orioles have a top ten payroll. You really have to ask your self where their money goes. At least some of Hendry's spending is understandable, minus probably 15-20 million.
  11. Anyone think Marquis' bat has anything to do with the situation?
  12. I predicted about a month in that ARod would only hit 45 hrs this year. My best friend is not going to let me live it down.
  13. Now this i a better oppurtunity to hit and run in.
  14. Z is going to get 2 outs and then walk a batter every inning tonight.
  15. Both pitchers are working fast so far tonight.
  16. Not that Jacque was going to get a hit there anyways...but we have been making good contact so far so why run into an out like that???
  17. Does anyone know why? Len and Bob assumed a lingering injury of some sort.
  18. The offense are having good abs all the way around. That bodes well for the outcome of this game. Seeing the ball well and making good contact.
  19. DLee is amazing. And looks like we didnt need to hit Bay in the ribs cause he is already out of the game.
  20. I missed the convo but I just heard Len say that Traschel is throwing an upcoming game. Does that mean Marshall is no longer starting?
  21. Well at least we are making good contact. Just push or pull the ball a bit and there we go. Z looking decent so far. And we are actually winning. I still feel uneasy.
  22. I lookat the talent on that list and try to figure out what package I would ask for in return and then I try to think of happy thoughts. I have to believe that any talks involving Hawpe or Eitheir would start with Hill+. Burrell and the Seattle duo would also cost a bit and they are more like consolation prizes (a little less so with Burrell). Church, Quentin , and Baldelli may not be any better than Murton in the long run. With the right deal, I could see the Cubs thinking about trading either Hill or Marshall. They've done a pretty good job, but I'm not sure the Cubs want to go into next year with 3 lefties in the rotation. Also, one of their strengths seems to be young pitchers, so they might be expendable for the right player. That was my thinking too. But I am not sure if any of the players in that list are worth the risk of giving up Hill. I like Hawpe and Ethier but I am not sure about them. I would almost be tempted to say keep our staff intact and just make a run at a Renteria or a Milton Bradley type. (Assuming we cant get ARod or Johan Santana of course)
