    And of course, the walk prolongs the inning and then the RBI single happens. All with two outs. This act sure gets old, but it's still very predictable.

    Our main SP's down on the farm tonight had a real good outing and a real bad outing. I'll start with the bad. Tennessee lost 8-4 as Holliman was roughed up: 5.2 IP, 11 hits, 8 runs, 1 K/6 BB's, and a HR given up. Decent day for the offense though. Matt Craig went a perfect 4/4 and Kroeger belted out two solo HR's. Jake Fox and Nate Fuld were each 1/4. While Holliman struggled, Atkins was AWESOME: 8 IP, 2 hits, 0 runs, 3 K's/0 BB's!!! Matt Avery picked up the save as Daytona won 3-0. Kyle Reynolds and Nate Spears were each 2/4 with a double. Chris Amador was 2/5 with a double and an RBI. Dope was 1/4 with a double and an RBI. Colvin was 0/1 with two BB's and an RBI. Peoria just lost 3-2. Decent line for Maestri: 5.2 IP, 5 hits, 2 runs, 5 K's/0 BB's, 1 HR allowed. He picked up the loss as the offense couldn't get things going. Canzler, Yusuf, and Castillo were each 2/4. Lansford and Camp were each 1/4. No extra-base-hits for the Chiefs tonight. Iowa is getting rocked, 12-3 in the 8th. O'Malley didn't even make it out of the 2nd inning: 1.1 IP, 8 hits, 6 runs, 2 K's/1 BB. Howard and Baez weren't any better as they gave up 6 runs in the next 3 and 2/3's. Hoffpauir hit his 9th HR of the season and Fontenot is 2/4. Cedeno has a double and EPatt is 1/3 with an RBI and a walk. Felix is 0/4 with a strikeout.

    Chris, A lot of us would probably say that you are one of the more popular players in the organization because of who you were acquired for last year :wink: Going to U of I, did you grow up a Cubs fan? How did you react when you found out you were going to play in the Cubs organization? Thanks for answering our questions and good luck for the rest of the season!

    Mark, First of all, congrats on a great start to the 2007 season. Being in a rotation that includes Gallagher and Veal, do you gain competitiveness by just competing with them on having better starts each time you guys go out there? What has been the biggest difference between the Florida State League and the Southern League? Everyone says the Florida State League is one of the "premiere" pitching leagues in Minor League Baseball. For you, it's been the opposite as you've been much better in Double A. Do you just feel more comfortable with the team you are with right now? Finally, what pitches have you been fine-tuning on the most this year? Thanks and good luck for the rest of the season.     Jake, Since you have played several different positions this year, what has been your favorite position and what would you determine would be your best position? Were you one of those players in lower levels of baseball (high school, junior high, etc.) that played at multiple positions or were you just solely a catcher? Your offense has also been real solid at Tennessee this year. There's been many reports that say that you have a Major League bat already. What adjustments do you make to stay on top of Southern League pitching? Thanks and good luck for the rest of the season. It's only a matter of time before you're going to be in Iowa and eventually, Chicago :D

    Donnie, You have shown some flashes this year of the same pitcher that completely dominated last year. I have read reports where you've just needed to attack the hitters more. I know it has been a tough start to the 2007 season for you, but has it been a learning experience for you to become a better pitcher in the long run? Also, when Angel Guzman was demoted to Iowa, Piniella said that it was tougher to gauge just how good Guzman was because of how free swinging minor league hitters are. Have you found this to be accurate with the hitters that you have faced in the Southern League this year? I'm a huge fan of yours and I know you'll rebound and pitch as effective as you did last year. Good luck for the rest of the season.

    Sean, Since being promoted to Double A last year, have you tried to work more and more on your breaking pitches? In your mind, what is your "go-to pitch?" Also, how does it feel to be in a rotation with guys like Veal and Holliman ? Where would this current rotation rank on rotations that you have been a part of? Thanks and good luck for the rest of the season. I enjoy listening and watching the box scores whenever you pitch. I can't wait until you are on the big league team.

    Steve Stone is a very smart man. That and Jim Hendry is a complete idiot. Steve Stone is the reason we choked down the stretch in 2004. Just ask Dusty Baker and Kent Mercker. Nice to see that Stone is still in Chicago while those two are (pretty much) out of baseball completely.
