  1. He couldn't do anything with it once he got it. Plus, I think the Cardinals' series also showed some limitations to his play at SS. That would have been a REALLY tough play to make. Hard to fault Theriot there.
  2. If you can get Nathan for Maine DO IT I offered. We'll see what happens. It would be a nice turnaround on an early season waver pickup.
  3. Upon further reflection, I'll probably pass. Sori and Carp were my first and third picks, and I'd be selling them at their lowest possible value. I do really need another close so I might to to get Nathan for Maine. It's still early so I can always revisit this in a couple of weeks.
  4. Was just offered a counter offer trade for: I give: Soriano Carpenter I get: Giambi B.J. Upton Nathan Zito Should I do this? I am deficient in Saves and Steals. Here is my current roster. C Michael Barrett 1B Nomar Garciaparra 2B Dan Uggla 3B Scott Rolen SS Carlos Guillén OF Barry Bonds OF Alfonso Soriano OF Jermaine Dye Util Travis Hafner BN Moisés Alou BN Josh Hamilton BN Ryan Theriot BN Ray Durham BN Akinori Iwamura P Mariano Rivera P Bob Wickman P Joakim Soria P John Maine P Gil Meche P Rich Hill P Braden Looper BN David Aardsma BN Carlos Zambrano BN Andy Pettitte BN Jon Lester DL Chris Carpenter DL Josh Johnson I am leaning towards yes. Edit: 5x5 Roto, swap out average for OPS. Semi-Keeper (5 guys per year).
  5. that's the only pick i don't like, but i've learned to trust jerry. But do you know anything about him? Pretty hard to be critical of these small school guys. I've never seen him play. Edit: Jerry said that Payne has "John Lynch" type skills.
  6. Jerry was just on the Score. He loves Payne.
  7. I agree with Goony that I would have liked to see another Lineman taken. I think Beekman was a good pick. Look for the Bears to monitor roster cuts closely for WR's and OLmen. Apparently, the Bears were hoping to take Anthony Gonzales in the second round and when he wasn't there, they decided to trade down. So, as it turns out, the Bears got two 3rds and a 5th for Thomas Jones. What happened to the Guard the Bears drafted last year in the 6th, Tyler Reed? Never really heard anything about him last year. I wonder if he can play.
  8. Cubs 7 Pirates 2. Soriano with a breakout game.
  9. Barrett needs to be an all-star.
  10. I think Biggs was speculating that the Bears wanted to trade a DE. I'm not so sure the Bears want to trade a DE. They've said all along how they want to create competition at key spots. DE is a spot where the starters underperformed last year. The Bears defensive scheme is predicated on the defensive line getting into the backfield. Ogun and Brown didn't cut it last year. They weren't bad but they didn't meet expectations. Bringing in a 2nd round DE just creates more competition and will likely bring out the best in everyone. At worst, it gives the Bears a continuous stream of fresh DE's to bring in throughout the game.
  11. In typical Bears style, 2 small school defensive backs.
  12. Agreed. The Bears got the best TE in the draft, a playmaking DE with 26 sacks in the last 2 years, a All-American guard, and a speedy RB. If nothing else, Wolfe can make teams pay even when they kick away from Hester on kickoffs. Wolfe will be a good option on passing downs. Catching the ball isn't exactly Benson's strong suit. He adds a dimension that the Bears didn't have.
  13. Aaaaand Nevermind.
  14. Doug Free is still out there as well.
  15. Rufus Alexander still out there. I wonder if the Bears will take him? Probably not since they already took a LB.
  16. Moss is 30, but he really handcuffed the Raiders here. He's got big contract numbers for the next 2 years so they couldn't just cut him and he obviously wouldn't play there. Teams sensed this and knew they could get him cheap. Yeah, I know how it went down. It just seems amazing to me that a guy like Moss could be had for a 4th. I guess Moss said the only team he would restructure his contract for was the Patriots. I guess that helps. Moss can still play. I think people are going to be surprised next year. [Costanza]Everything is coming up Patriots![/Costanza]
  17. When reading that, I don't want to make any early assumptions but...... How the hell do you die from rear ending someone? Unless it's some kind of gruesome Final Destination type thing. Tow truck vs. Explorer. Tow truck wins big time. He might not have been wearing a seatbelt.
  18. A lot of returners have gone early this year.
  19. What a great trade by the Patriots. Tom Brady to Randy Moss? How can this guy be traded for a 4th round pick? I know how NFL teams covet draft picks, but... 4th round. Randy Moss? Some times the NFL just boggles the mind.
  20. Really? I haven't seen anything on this. It was in the link in the original post. Wow, I'm a complete idiot. Carry on.
  21. Really? I haven't seen anything on this.
  22. Woo! Day two!
