  1. Sammy to hit into a triple play................. I can smell it.
  2. sac fly I wouldn't mind giving up the out if I knew we could excecute a sac fly...............however we probably can't. That's giving up two outs. Plus it takes days off Santo's life every time we leave someone at 3rd like that and I don't want to do that.

  4. i'm in a good mood, so i won't bust out the eye roll I'll do it for you. Ok you convinced me - he has looked outstanding both behind the plate and on the basepaths Do you consider Manny Ramirez a bad baseball player? In true Joe Morgan fashion I will tell you no I don't but I don't watch Manny every day either. Having said that Manny OPS+ 129; Barret OPS+ 80 - I believe that gives Manny just a little more room to make gaffes in the field and on the basepaths. Not to mention Manny is a LF while Barrett is a catcher Then why does Manny cut off throws in CF? Bottom line: Manny's gaffes are much more blatant and disastrous than Barrett's. Blatant and Disastrous Gaffes Statline for both, please. Barretts BDG- 34.8 is much higher than Manny who's is 22.7 quite a significant difference. According to my calculations it amounts to a difference of 2.7 wins per year in Mannys favor........................you can look it up. OK OK I was just trying to illustrate that Barret's baseball skills other than hitting are below average and if he is hitting below average he is really a liability. Looking at it he is still hitting probably slightly above average for someone of his positon. I have seen a couple of his plays cost the Cub's games this year - I have not seen any of Manny's plays cost the Sox but as I said I don't watch them every day.

  6. A baseball player is the sum of his parts. Barrett may not have a good glove or be an astute baserunner, but his offensive contributions made him a far superior baseball player than many of the other more defensive-minded catchers who you probably think were better. Just so I know for future reference who are the defensive minded catchers that I think are better?
  7. Personally I wouldn't call this pure anger. If you ask me, it was one of the calmest trade threads ever on this board. Most people were resigned to the fact Barrett was going, not a lot of people are ecstatic about the deal, but there's only been a couple people who've gone ballistic. Bowen's been a mediocre producing catcher in his pro career who is having a good 2007 but probably won't sustain the numbers. He'd be a nice cheap backup for a team with a good starter, but he's probably not starter material himself, at least in the long haul, but he'll be stable defensively. The kid whose parents were desperate for a name that started with K has some physical ability but hasn't done jack squat as a pro (600 OPS in rookie ball and sub 600 in low A ball). beautiful..................

  9. Barret has often been a good hitter (though not this year) but has always been a bad baseball player. I enjoyed having him on the Cubs but I am willing to move in a different direction because I'm not sure this direction has worked for Barrett or the Cubs. Is he going to be the full time starter in SD or is he going to be a backup to Josh Bard.
  10. I'm quite bullish on our bullpen tonight :D
  11. I have an eerie feeling of confidence right now. I think this inning goes well for Cubs. If not punch yourself. I will, if you agree to punch yourself if the inning does go well :D I'd punch myself silly if it got us a world series I would punch both of you if it would get us in the World Series
  12. Pinch hitting for Diaz there shows Ron Washington has no understanding of Karma or curses..........I was mentally preparing myself for that guy to jack one.
  13. i heard you went a lot of different ways. Keep it to yourself!
  14. I am watching your house now with my little google. There are so many ways I could go with that....................I'm just going to pass :)
  15. Fonz trying to hit the ball to San Antonio
  16. Good news for the Cubs............... I have Otsuka on my fantasy team. He is sure to get shellacked!!
  17. Anybody think Cliffy is going to break a bat sometime the way he smaks it on home plate when he gets in the box??
  18. Yup The old reverse physcology trick on my part 8-)
  19. I can see why some Cubs fans would be indifferent about Sosa's poor play of late, but I have no idea why one would revel in it. As one who is indifferent I would agree
  20. So if there is a guy on 3rd with no outs all it takes is a flyball to score him?????????? I didn't know you could do that...................
  21. He was definitely the bad cop with Jack and Vince, but if you remember the Cubs teams he was calling, its hard to believe all of them werent raging alcoholics. I still tune in to Astros losses to listen because I dislike Milo so much I love to hear how peeved he is.
