When Lee went down I thought they should consider it then. More because he's not considered much of a prospect anyway so we wouldn't mind if he had a lot of bench time. I would have seen him as more of a defensive replacement then a starter. -
The Peoria Journal Star reports that the Chicago Cubs have told the Chiefs that Nomar could suit up for Peoria games Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If Garciaparra plays Sunday in Arizona without any setbacks, Peoria is expected to be his next stop. The Chiefs play 7 p.m. games against Dayton Monday through Thursday. The Chiefs hope to break their single-game atendance record of 8,854, set on May 26, 2002.

The Peoria Journal Star also indicates that "Before Mallory could celebrate the mammoth homer, the outfielder was released by the Chicago Cugs following the game." (Mallory hit a mammoth home run earlier during the game, giving him a 7 game hitting string.)
