  1. Peavy has Towers by the sac, not Towers by Hendry's sac. If we wait 2 months and give up less, while in the process signing/trading for a quality LF is that really a bad thing. I have seen two people use LF now. Did I miss something in the last hour? Is Soriano going to be playing somewhere else?
  2. Did it sound like a separate trade or that this RF would come as part of the Peavy deal I didn't hear it but from what the posters were saying it sounds like they have another deal set up to trade for a OF and it is not part of the Peavy deal. It does seem like a separate deal from the Peavy trade.
  3. Not sure what he said on the radio but his blog says outfielder.
  4. Levine has it in his blog now as well http://stations.espn.go.com/stations/espnradio1000/blog?id=3738908
  5. He is also a Type A free agent I believe, so he would cost us picks.
  6. So if we sign Johnson, that obviously kills the Peavy deal right? Unless Harden or Lilly are in that deal. Obviously Peavy would be better but having a Johnson as a potential 4th or 5th starter isnt a bad option.
  7. I can't see how he can even try to say that. He's a a lawyer, they will say anything (specially one for Cuban)
  8. If Marmol gets traded for Peavy, the deal had better be Marmol and inconsequential throw-ins for Peavy, and not much else. Marmol isn't getting traded. Letting Kerry go pretty much cements that, IMO. I agree, I was just commenting on his worth in the event Hendry did get stupid and move him. I agree, it was simply a thought based on what seems to be a needless trade for Gregg and the lack of a dominant closer option for SD.
  9. I would be shocked into a coma if Hendry did that -- it would also be the first rumored deal that I didn't think we were getting a steal from. That said, my money's on No Way Hendry lets Marmol and Wood both go within weeks of eachother. Even for Peavy. I agree it would be the stupidest thing he's ever done but I guess I don't understand the need for Gregg at the cost of Ceda. Just feels like something is missing.
  10. What if we picked up Gregg because Marmol has been added to the Peavy deal? I know it's probably not but it was a bad thought that popped into my head. yuk
  11. having the ICubs here in des moines is what got me started. My dad took me to a few of the games that the Chicago cubs would come down and play against the ICubs. Those were usually fun. the first year I really watched and got hooked was '84. Jody Davis was my favorite player. I've been a cub fan ever since. Took me 15 years to get to my first game in Wrigley, down the 3-2 in the ninth, my ex-wife is too cold and so we left. My best friend and I were sitting in Mcdonalds, upset cuz we left, when we see on the TV Glenallen Hill tie the game with a huge HR and Grace wins its with a double later that inning. I didn't talk to her all the way back to the hotel.
  12. Lou was suppose to meet with Hendry this morning to finalize the roster. Nothing new has come out since. At least not that I've seen.
  13. That is quite convenient.. wish I could do that at work. Refresh it is for me though :banghead:
  14. I know they are just trying to keep me from getting my work done today.
  15. I hate this stupid blackout howry.. Espn news for 3 hours sucks
  16. Is it possible this would also have to do a bit with rest both for the starters and bullpen. If Harden were to go game 1 and 5, he'd be pitching on normal rest, which it seems like he hasn't done a lot of the last month. If Lou did extend Harden to 110 to 120 pitches, he might be concerned about his ability to come back on normal rest and pitch effectively in game 5. The bullpen would be rested but you wouldn't necessarily want to get into that in the 5th or 6th. Conversely, Dempster has been pretty consistent all year long regardless of pitch count. Anyway, just a thought.
  17. He's been figured out. Now he needs to adjust. Or get better. Possible he could be getting tired or fatigued.. He's usually playing football now. Probably the most he's thrown in a long time.
  18. That's if he goes oppo or only half swings What about a bunt? That makes the basket.. just barely
  19. That's if he goes oppo or only half swings
  20. If Fielder gets a hold of a Wood fastball it might not land
  21. I think you would need a hurricane blowing out for that to happen Where's Ike when you need him?
  22. Is the wind blowing out enough for a Theriot walk off?
