By my standards, 5 innings of 2 hit, 10 K pitching is a quality start, you'd be stupid to think otherwise, official rulings aside.

I just wanted a place to add all my thoughts after watching today's game 1. Are we sure this wasn't a replay of yesterday? 2. Jeremy Hermida is closing in on Ryan Braun territory. Thanks for hitting all those HRs when you were my NSBB Wildcard pick in the HRD. :roll: 3. Sean Marshall once again showed why he should be the #5 starter today. [expletive] Lou, learn! 4. How does Sinatro/Lou getting tossed not fire up the Cubs and lead them to victory? Thye never even really came close. 5. It was obvious that Cantu was gonna burn the Cubs again. 6. Another quality start wasted! That's several in a row. 7. I'm beginning to trust Marmol again (hey, a positive!) 8. Once again, if the Lou/Sinatro ejections didn't fire this team up, I don't know what will; this is a pathetic team to watch right now.

The Cards and Brewers have been doing this all year - so damn annoying Cubs have the opposite effect in their games, they lose getting more hits than the opponent.

I just got a chance to watch the game after recording it. How sad is it that when we went to extras I knew we'd lose? AT HOME? Ugh, these are the Cubs some things never change.

Just thought it would be a good time to revisit this since the BP is clearly our main glaring weakness as I knew it'd be. Stuff in italics are from my original post in April Bob Howry: All he throws is fastballs. Easy to predict. He'll look good against some bad teams, and get clobbered by most good ones. - This still holds true Carlos Marmol: I fear our best reliever is going to be overused. - and he has been, and it's showing Sean Marshall: We've seen him have problems with control in the past. He's basically the LOOGY, so he won't face many batters anyway. - He's looked great at times, but struggled recently. Not sure why he's not the #5 starter and Marquis still is. Kerry Wood: Not worried a whole lot about him, but one injury and.... - yeah... Everyone else who I evaluated back then is now in the minors or DLed. Eyre is basically the left handed Howry and Samardjiza/Gaudin can hopefully be contributors, but I still have my doubts about those guys. IMO, we need to get one more reliever at the deadline, and we should be OK. If not, I still think the pen's gonna kill this team when it's all said and done. -

You have a power hitting, all or nothing Marlins team. You don't put in a guy who throws 95% fastballs. It was obvious he was gonna give up a run and he didn't get one softly hit ball. He's trash.

So the Brewers sweep the Cards who will obviously return to good team form (and hang around) after barely losing any ground in the race this series. Wonderful
