Cubs are 49-0 when they lead at the end of the 9th inning or later. :D You sure we haven't taken the lead in extra innings and blown it this year? There wouldn't be extra innings if we lead after the 9th ;)

So Pena's hit 2 near grand slams this season at Wrigley... he's probably gonna hit one onto Sheffield sooner or later. Great to see the team doing well, even if it hurts the chances of Quade or Hendry getting canned.

For me, as was mentioned, the 2006 team was supposed to be crappy, seeing their lineup. This team, full of mostly high-paid players expected to do well absolutely kills me when they struggle. A lineup containing Castro, Ramirez, Soriano, Pena, Soto, and Byrd should be awesome, and most of those guys aren't even having awful years. The complete lack of clutch hitting is the sharpest dagger to me though.

And even dumber fans. Forgot about you, N&G, my bad.

Some guy said it yesterday, this is officially the toughest team to watch in Cubs history. Just a bunch of really stupid baseball players managed by an even dumber manager.

I think there's a happy medium. Guys like Brennamen and Harrelson have a tendency to excessively whine and complain, almost even bash other teams. There could be a little bit of rose colored glasses here, but Len doesn't really go there. When I think "homer" I think of someone who calls the game based more on a rooting interested than what is actually going on. Of course there should be a slight bias, but not to the extent that some guys call a game. Why not? Their intended audience are fans of the team they work for. Because I want to hear a legitimate broadcast, not a cheer-leading squad. Guys like Harrelson and Brennaman, Harrelson being the absolute extreme can ruin an entire broadcast, even if you are on their side. Hawk and Brennaman are hacks and have plenty of examples of being "cheerleaders," but I'm still baffled as to why you're complaining when that happens when their team wins in walk-off fashion. It would be one thing if you were showing a clip of him calling a Reds home run like that yet they were still down by God knows how many runs and had no chance to win, but come on...complaining that they're being too excited or "homers" over a walk-off win is [expletive] ridiculous. I guess I just think the call is stupid. I have a thing with broadcasters. I want excitement, but professionalism. The Pirates announcers are the worst I have heard. Boring and dry when the opponent scores, over-excited and cheerleading when the Pirates score. Brennamen is just a blatant homer, his call wasn't on the Pirates or Ken Harrelson level, I admit. Guys that keep it somewhat neutral and actually call the play are the best - that's all i ask for.

I gotta say despite the awful baseball played by the Cubs (I was happy to see one win), this park never gets old. This was my 4th trip to PNC and it's amazing what a contending baseball team can do to a city. I've never seen more Pirates fans pack the place... it's usually about 50/50 with Cubs fans.
