Pat was saying the outfielder screwed it up because he thought it was out for sure. Yeah, it was mashed. That said, Heisey was essentially camped under it. I can only image he looked up and saw it sailing out of the yard, just to see the wind literally push it back into his vision, and thus he dropped it.
