  1. The Dodgers, Pirates, Royals, Rangers, and Blue Jays are all in a similar boat. Which is also pretty incredible. Maybe all a team needs is 2 really good ones.
  2. If the Cubs somehow manage to win the World Series with 2 reliable starters, albeit really good ones, it will be a pretty incredible story.
  3. We'll ultimately be eliminated from the playoffs because someone will K in a big spot. :(
  4. It's not "striking out the side" if it's not 1-2-3. Sorry, pet peeve.
  5. Probably goes without saying, but a loss today pretty much cinches the WC game at PNC Park.
  6. I'm just happy with not being completely overmatched by Cole. Bodes well for the WC game.
  7. Can't think of a worst spot to send Schwarber. At least 60% of the time, Bryant is either going to K or walk there. Of the other 40%, most of that is homerun.
  8. Yes, and probably tomorrow too. So we won't be able to ovetake the Pirates even with a sweep. Whatever, let Arrieta silence PNC Park, I guess.
  9. Assuming the Rockies continue to suck, 3.5 back of Pittsburgh going into that series with the Pirates, ugh. Jake will dominate them at PNC. Time to start envisioning that.
  10. I think the Cubs and Pirates are clearly the 2 best teams in the NL. A real shame only one is going to the NLDS.
  11. stupid Pirates luck their way out of another inning. Soria is garbage.
  12. Remember when Donnie Murphy was the best player in the league for like 2 weeks? Good times.
  13. It's so great how we have an incredible bench now.
  14. Hammel apologists, where are you? Can't even get into the 6th against Milwaukee.
  15. [expletive] up yet another runner at 3rd, 0 out spot. Wonderful.
  16. thankfully nobody in the cubs organization feels the same Since July 3rd, Hammel has gone 6 innings a grand total of twice, and both times he was spotted to huge leads. Don't act like its a ridiculous opinion to think Richard could have more success than that. Both he and Cahill have at least earned a shot. Now let's tie this mother up.
  17. I do not believe Richard would be a "world beater." I believe there's a better chance he could give us 5 or 6 solid innings than running Hanmel out there time after time.
  18. Hammel is brutal. Give me Clayton Richard.
  19. Pirates have 4 at Coors Field, and I suspect they're going to have their struggles. Let's sweep and go into that series with the WC lead.
