  1. I'm prepeared to be shot at but i think dempster will be fine in the rotation cue 6 run 2nd inning!!!!! :P
  2. 3-6 Cotts hasn't given up a run in 2 innings so i'm definetely calling today an abnormality
  3. The one thing i will say is spring means zip, how many cubs hitters/pitchers have looked amazing at this time of year only to hit a wall in april chicago style. Maybe we get an opposite this year..............
  4. Ok put me on the officially worried list, if hill is going to be this inconsistant we have a major hole between Z,Lilly and the rest. Add to that it's no lock for Lilly to repeat last year and we may have a major prob.
  5. I don't see how this changes anything, we knew dempster will suck the cubs come out with some crap that it will be ok. It wont be ok and we'll have to watch dempster go back to the pen whilst we search for someone who can get people out.
  6. As someone who had to put up with only espn games for years until mlbtv arrived Rick has always been a break from the cub bashing Joe Morgan etc. Love his contributions tro the cubs convention and of course his contribution to that '84 cubs team. Get well soon top man.
  7. I stopped reading as soon as the article said 'writes Paul Sullivan' because anything written after that will be of no consequence. Pie is playing well enough to get first chance just hope that Lous leash is longer than a few abs.
  8. Samardzija looked as good as I've seen him look. He worked on all his pitches and had pretty good command. The Cubs absolutely will not rush him up. If there are no injuries or severe poor performance, he'll likely spend all year in the minors with maybe a September call-up. Bruce you're very kind!! Any time you spot a crazy english guy trying to convince people he was a chicagoan trapped in an englishmans body around the bars outside wrigley I'll be more than happy to buy you a proper beer/Guinness for your troubles!! 8-)
  9. Bruce i'm going to be the greedy one who asks you for some info on this thread if you get a chance!! sorry it's hard with no audio or tv i have to do something while my wife to be is packing the house up around me!! anyway how did Samardja look the other day? any idea how much they'll use him this spring? do you get the feeling they want him up with chicago in a hurry? thanks in advance you rock!
  10. Marquis might be damn useful in April/May with all those Cold home games.......
  11. What do people think about Payton vs Crisp?? Would we be wiser looking to offload Jason M to Boston for Crisp?. I get the feeling the only way the O's do this deal is with clearing some trash ie Payton.
  12. I'm just not sure i like giving up Sean, i really like the look of him and if patterson can be a speedy Utility guy to go with Derosa is the upgrade worth the talent we'll be giving away?
  13. I can see somthing like this when all said and done Gallagher/Murton/Patterson/Cedeno for Roberts, with Marquis for Payton as the possible add on. Not saying i like it just have that feeling.
  14. Levine on ESPN1000 reporting that things are really hot between the cubs and the orioles, expanded deal may include Jay Payton(Puke).......
  15. Posting on a messege board as a full time job is not a requirement to know that half the stuff you post is utter garbage, factually incorrect and designed to get a rise out of people.
  16. I'm sorry.. your "sources" called the Choi Lee trade. I mean everyone and their grandma knew the Cubs were interested in upgrading the slop from 03 at 1B. I mean everyone and their grandma knew the Marlins were cleaning house. I mean even Peter Gammons said it was a possibility days before it went down, but you and your "sources" came up with it. My ass. My god don't play semantic games with me. There "may be some discussion." This is similar to me saying that the Cubs are discussing the potential profit increase by raising ticket prices. Yeah, it may or may not be going on. There may be discussion is even an understatement of what miles said. He said lukewarm, at best. To be lukewarm is to be indifferent. To have solid interest is not to be indifferent. so yeah... miles pretty much said you were wrong. not to mention every other "rumor" you have ever come up with is either A: written on the wall, B: already known, or C: too dumb to be true. So you're 1 for 1000. Outstanding. Keep em coming. And please dont ever analyze a thing about baseball, mmkay pumpkin? besides i trust my sources more than i do yours. then again i dont leak my inside information I have a girlfriend who's behavior once a month reminds me of this post...................
  17. This is turning in to a pretty good offseason. Hendry has been saved from the following Trading Murton for Byrd-they wanted more Shipping off the farm for Roberts- Angelos love child must never leave Signing an array of crappy relievers- Dusty is taking care of that Signing the great Kazou- Houston wanted to finish below pitt and save the cubs from year 101! All in all not bad, with the signing of fuku and the resigning of wood we look pretty good. I would of liked more but look at the list of what could of happened and i'm pretty pleased. A nice addition at the deadline and we are set.
  18. I've not read all the reasoning on why/why not roberts is a marginal upgrade but here is my 2 cents.........For me to give up the best position prospect we have had in a while as well as a potential #3/4 starter who i contorl for a number of years i better be getting more than a guy who is only under control for 2 years and wheather marginal or not wont push us over the top. That is what it comes down to, do you give up your best position prospect and one of your best SP options for a guy who doesnt drastically improve your chances of winning in the playoffs.
  19. I've just had my dinner and i feel physically sick about Pie/Gallagher and more for Roberts. Whats the point why? why? why? i don't get it? i know i'm a stupid english guy but why the hell would we pay that price for a marginal upgrade? this will make me really angry.....like that crazy german kid smashing his computer on youtube.
  20. OBP 329 SLG.409 AVG.280 Crisps Career line Does Pie not have a chance to produce the above with a chance to play everyday?
  21. Obviously we have holes holes at SS and CF with a ? at C but the one thing that stounds out most to me with this team is a #2 starter to put in with Zambrano. I think all the other shortcomings we can live with and hope that Pie or Cedeno can contribute as well as another big year from Soto. We can win with the team as it is but when playoff time rolls around it will be very similar to last year without a better pitcher to solidify our rotation.
  22. If we went at Baltimore with a package based around Pie and Gallagher for Bedard has there ever been a successful rotation with 3 left handers? If having 3 lefties is not a problem i would do all i can to aquire Bedard for a package not including hill, try to aquire Anderson from the sox and let him and sammy fight it out for CF. Getting in to the Playoffs with our top 4 being Zambrano,Bedard,Lilly and Hill would make me happy!
  23. And the Cubs management must agree with me We've been losing for 100 fricking years why would agreeing with cubs management be a good place to make a point??
