  1. Orioles Hangout says that the Cubs have offered Theriot, Fox, and Marshall, and the paperwork is just being finalized. :-))
  2. I'll even take another BR thread at this point.
  3. C'mon! Do something!
  4. He can bed a "unreal" babe every hour of the day if he so chooses. Edit: Here's a pic of her http://images.huffingtonpost.com/gen/122066/RACHEL-UCHITEL-PICTURES.jpg http://images.huffingtonpost.com/gen/122067/RACHEL-UCHITEL-PICTURES.jpg http://images.huffingtonpost.com/gen/122034/RACHEL-UCHITEL-PHOTOS.jpg
  5. seriously? Yes seriously. They waived goodbye to 2 of their biggest stars in Ordonez and Carlos Lee, and another, Frank Thomas was a non factor for nearly the entire season. The replace them with Scott Podsednik, AJ Pierzynski, and Jermaine Dye. they won because of pitching. the white sox had a below average offense in 2005. Pitching and a crap load of home runs.
  6. I'm trying not to get too excited about all this Castro talk. I never heard of the guy until a couple of weeks ago. I really want to see what this kid can do in spring.
  7. Right, but lets stay on the subject of the Cubs. Which would you choose?
  8. This facility will serve the Cubs for 30 years. Today's intense demand for ST tickets may well erode in coming seasons, especially as the Cubs' national fandom declines absent the reach of 160 games on WGN and the presence of expansion teams in places like Phoenix and Denver, places in which large numbers of western fans latched onto the team in the 1980s. The Cubs have to prepare for a future in which they may need to work to build spring crowds. Naples is 500 miles closer to Wrigley Field, the Grapefruit schedule is more interesting and Florida is a longstanding vacation destination. no one cares who they play in spring training. they just don't. also the distance between the facilities is much greater in florida whereas in arizona everybody (outside of the tucson teams) are within 45 minutes of each other. it is MUCH easier for a fan to travel to arizona to watch the cubs for a week than to travel to florida. Less chance of rain outs also....
  9. It's a daily read for me. A free site that pulls together a ton of rumors from all over the place is a nice thing to have this time of year and around the trade deadline. Same here. I've been going there since it started. I just didn't realize how big the site has gotten. And how far it's come since it's early days, when you could just email the guy anything and he'd put it up on the site. Yep.

  11. On a side note I can't believe how big mlbtraderumors has gotten. It's ranked 13,000 world wide. That's pretty damn amazing.
  12. How does this explain his hairstyle?
  13. Why wasn't it done right after the season? Maybe they have to wait for the swelling to do down. Or something like that.
  14. What's he gonna do - Bring in a new GM that has no flexibility and still pay Hendry? The Ricketts are going to have their hands full for the next year just wrapping their minds and hands around the whole organization. Let's give them a year to access everything before they start to make changes. He's going to put his own stamp on the org. sooner or later. He just needs time right now.
  15. The Ricketts backlash begins...
  16. If we don't win a WS next year I'll consider this new ownership a dismal failure.
  17. Same here and I'm pulling for the Twins. Is the game going to be televised?
  18. I guess someone has to take the fall.
  19. My favorite memory of Dick Pole is seeing him drinking scotch (at a local wateringhole outside of Wrigley) laughing with fans after a loss in the last year of Dusty Baker tenure. I guess I'd be liquored up to.
  20. It's the first time the Olympics has been in South America, so I figured they had the upper hand, but I didn't think we'd suffer a first round knockout. I'm bummed! I really wanted to take my kids to see it! Arhhh!
  21. So what's everyone's top 5 managers in baseball?
