  2. PECOTA: 5.44 ERA Bill James: 5.14 CHONE: 5.13 ZIPS: 4.95 I'd say 4.40 is pretty optimistic. I'd love for it to happen, but it's more likely we see a 5-something. Previous to last year he put up ERA's of 4.13 and 3.71 and some other crappy ones. There is reason to believe he could fall inline close to the above numbers this year. no... baseball projections are always dead-on amen to that sarcasm. gut feelings from fans of the team the guy signs with following a good spring training outing are typically much more accurate. Agreed.
  3. Mine's half empty. but for some reason I'm always positive about the cubs. I like the Royko quote on my sig...
  4. That should be it for Marquis. For the season. Huh?
  5. This game is scooting by and Marquis sounds good...
  6. Andrew (New York): With so much mediocrity in the division, it seems lots of writers lack the requisite fortitude to venture a firm NL Central pick. Shall we count you among their number? Rob Neyer: (1:27 PM ET ) Dude, my middle name is fortitude. Robert Fortitude Neyer, Junior. Here's my firm pick: Cardinals. Or Brewers. But watch out for the Astros. The Astros?
  7. Nathanael (KC): Among all the other things I need to worry about as a Cubs fan, do I need to worry about Prior's low velocity yesterday? Or will this improve with more work? Rob Neyer: (12:13 PM ET ) Obviously I'm pulling for him, as I pull for all players who aren't obviously bad guys. But I'll be surprised if Prior wins 50 more games in his career.
  8. I'm thinking 3. It's his second start, he's going 3.
  9. Why do you think Murton? He seems like a hard worker...
  10. Angel? Whoops....Freudian slip! Angel Guzman. Yes....Angel, that's the man. Ahh, too early in the morning for me. I should've realized that. Here I was Googling Juan Guzman to see if there were any stories of him recovering lost velocity or something. For me too I guess! Googling Juan Guzman should have scared the heck out of you as he's the guy the Cubs signed when they let Maddux go as you probably already know. If there is a delay in Prior's return it opens the door for Mr. Guzman. Wrong Guzman again. You're thinking of Jose Guzman: http://www.baseball-reference.com/g/guzmajo01.shtml This is Juan Guzman: http://www.baseball-reference.com/g/guzmaju01.shtml Oh Lord that's funny....thanks! Why too many Guzman's.
  11. I agree...it's still way to early to speculate these things. I'm sure Prior has a plan and he's sticking to it. Hopefully the plan works! I agree! From what I've heard is that Mark has a regiment that he goes by and he has recently seen Tom House so I assume he's got a day by day that he's doing to gradually work himself back by Opening Day. I'm still sticking to my thoughts on him not being ready until June but I'm hoping I'm wrong. Again these are my feelings but I think that Prior needs more mental toughness when he is struggling pitching wise. June? I can't see that at all. If he's not ready by June, he's not going to pitch in 2007...

  13. Angel? I think and hope he meant Angel...
  14. Can we also add in people thinking they need to lecture other posters for daring to show emotion over spring training games? Seconded! God forbid anyone shows emotion in ST games....
  15. That was a nice little piece. Damn, Lou loves the game. Crying about starting ST?!?!? I hate the whole "Cubbie" thing...blah! He also said to one of his coaches "He's either going to hit 2nd or 8th" while waching Murton bat. Unless it was editing that made it seemed he was talking about Murton...
  16. Seriously? Oh God. What about Wood, what did he top out at? 95
  17. exactly, if he hasant really been throwing hard over the off season, he isint going to magically show up at spring training at throw 90+ Don't tell that to Wood.
  18. Cool thansk. Just turned it on...
  19. I have no worries about Lilly. I think he'll do fine in the NL.
