  1. You actually think we'll win one? We'll win one. The Sunday game they got a Rook going.
  2. 1.36. Someone said the other nite on the ESPN telecast (Baker or Sutcliffe) that Rothschild had been yelling at him that he wasnt a sinker ball pitcher and that he needed to stop acting like one. He apparently needs to throw his normal fastball and change up more to be effective. God help him in the wind tunnell in mid summer. Dear god I hope that's not true. No way is this true! LOL!
  3. The worst of it is my Father-in-law and my Wife's Step Dad are both die-hard Sox fans. Arhhh! It's going to be another long summer... I'm skipping these games (or least try to) unless they win the first game...
  4. If the Cubs sweep, I'll donate $10 for someone to have premium for two months, but the person then has to pony up the dough for the next 10 months. 10 bucks! Wow.
  5. they still play hockey? lol Does their season ever end?
  6. Marmol's been moved to the pen. Actually Marmol's 46K/12BB is a lot better the I'd thought it be. Hmmm..
  7. I did. You don't give a large three-year contract to a guy coming off a year that's clearly out of line with his past: WHIP 2000: 2.16 2001: 1.40 2002: 1.55 2003: 1.51 2004: 1.33 2005: 1.08 __________ 2006: 1.48 2007: 2.17 Now really, what in those six years above the line, aside from 2005, says "give this guy a big three-year contract." I don't see anything. Our bullpen in the years prior to his signing was horrible. ...because the cubs gave a bunch of money to other middle relievers coming off good seasons. man, have you even watched the last four seasons of cubs baseball? every middle reliever the cubs have given big money to have been tremendous disasters...i guess hendry isn't the only one who doesn't learn. I used to think like that, but I've wised up. Bullpen's are a crap shoot. Spending big money on a bullpen is a complete waste of money. It's a disposable position. Even the best closers don't have a long shelf life. The Hoffman's and the Rivera's are the exceptions and not the rule. I actually liked the way Kenny Williams built his pen this year and probably spent what Ryan Dempster is making per year. If not less...
  8. Damn, I wish I was there!
  9. That's silly. Wrigley is not the problem. Was Fenway a problem for Boston? C'mon!
  10. By giving up a hit to the first batter he faced? Even if Theriot gets to that he isnt going to have much on the throw to 2nd and Delgado probably beats it out anyway. Eyre sucks plain and simple. A ground ball is a groundball, it could be a rocket right at the 3rd baseman and we say the guy did his job, or it could be a dribbler through the hole and he choked. This stuff happens. Agreed. Eyre's job was to get a ground ball and he did. What are you going to do.
  11. To be fair Dempster has been good this season. All closers have melt down like this every once in a while. It's just magnified because of our piss poor play this year as a whole. And we have no one else too close...
  12. I can't believe he pulled out the tip your cap line....I freakin hate Dumpster. I laughed at that line.
  13. Dempster quote after the game today: "They have a good team. They do a good job," Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster said of the Mets. "Tip your cap to them. Unfortunately, I didn't do my job today. I didn't do a very good job at all." Is that you Dusty?
  14. Dempster quote after todays game: "They have a good team. They do a good job," Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster said of the Mets. "Tip your cap to them. Unfortunately, I didn't do my job today. I didn't do a very good job at all." Tip your cap? LOL! What a idiot.
  15. I'll not only pay for a year of Premium, I'll go ahead and pay for yours also. How's that sound?
  16. The season is far from over, unfortunately. Are you proud or something? How can it not be over? Are you watching this team? This team is not capable of contending for the playoffs? You must be one delusional Cubs fan. I was speaking to the fact that there are many months of baseball left and there are a lot of games to be played. Your comments are pointless, please go back to Cubs.com. He has a right to be upset. There may be many months of baseball left, but that doesn't mean that they will all of a sudden turn things around. I'm not sure this team is capable.
  17. It would've been. The Met's still only had 1 out.
  18. Gee I don't know, maybe his .390 average, 17 doubles and 1.016 OPS, and his gold glove defense, but that's about it. I was assuming he was joking. At least I hope he was.
  19. The easiest way to start a rally is to start walking people. They scored 5 runs on nothing more then singles and walks.
  20. We have a good manager and have talent....You know what, I don't know what to say. Our offense comes through today and our bullpen (Dempster-Eyre) faulter. We just find ways to lose. I can't explain it. On paper the Stats should balance out to at least a .500 team, but we aren't.
  21. Lou said 50/50 yesterday. I think yes. Dlee know's the team needs him or any kind of pick me up.
  22. Just what this team needs a young aggressive manager... I was all for Girardi because I foolishly thought he was a major reason for the Marlins success last year. Didn't Girardi ride that starting staff pretty hard last year? Three of those starters have been hurt.
  23. Just heard Lou Post Game on ESPN 1000. A lot of long pauses...."The team needs to get it done" "I don't know..." He seemed pissed, shocked and speechless..
  24. I can almost promise Lou won't use him, except in blow outs.
  25. Give up 5 runs...get one out...wow, what is our Bull pen ERA these days? 12? What's scary is we could've had a 7 run lead and we still would've blown it.
