    Soriano is a #5 hitter, not a leadoff hitter. It really is as simple as that. How Lou doesn't see that is beyond me. I'm hoping Lou will convince Soriano that batting 5th and playing RF will help the 2008 Cubs. Doing those 2 simple things gives you more power and RBIs in the middle of the order, gives you a higher OBP guy leading off, strengthens your OF defense in both LF and RF, and allows Murton to play everyday. Make Soto your starting catcher and you've improved the defense at that position too. Obviously, these changes won't be enacted for the rest of this year. Doesn't it seem like every game he leads off he's always down 0-2?

    Old news, Cubs.com had that a day or two ago. When I heard it I thought it was new because I thought that Trachsel was going as part of the DH. I don't know I'm all screwed up with this rotation.

    Holy cow does Berkman own Marquis. And in no small number of PAs, too. That's ridiculous. I suggest walking him. Marquis I don't think ever does well against Houston. This is not a ideal match up for us tonight. Hopefully the offense will score early and often.

    There is something to be said for not inserting Z into what will be a charged atmosphere here on Friday night. Let him pitch on Thursday in sleepy Houston. With all the energy of the rivalry and the Cards' last chance to stay in the race, I'm afraid Z will fizzle. It's sad when people are worried about putting Z into pressure situations. If he can't handle the cardinal series he shouldn't be pitching in the playoffs at all. It's silly.

    They're doing the Marlin thing. Win....trade your players....lose and get a couple of high picks and build the minors up and then win again. Who'd they trade?
