  1. quit your whining. yeah, it sucks, but the cubs missed oswalt twice and webb when they were in arizona. the cubs shouldn't need the astros help to win 85 games. Seriously, please quit the whining. I'm sure the Cardinals just loved it when we were throwing out Guzman, Marmol and Juan Mateo at the end of last year. Enough of the whinning. Seriously.
  2. So this means if we beat the Reds tonight, they'll be mathematically eliminated. Correct? You betcha!
  3. I don't follow the Braves that close, but a guy at work here is fanatical about them and he says until they are mathematically eliminated, Bobby Cox will pull out all stops to win. :) What manager doesn't?
  4. And who did the brewers face in that series??? It was Arroyo or Harang now was it???? It was Shearn, Saarloos, and Belisle.
  5. I honestly wouldn't be surprised. For whatever reason they have the Brewers number this year.
  6. Whew. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
  7. Don't worry yet... In fact, if I'm the Brewers I'm worried. Padres and Braves aren't going to lay down. Both are playing for something. They have 8 games with them.
  8. we play home against the pirates this is how I see it We win today 2/3 vs Pitt 3/3 at Fla (honestly believe we will sweep them) this will be a home game for us I bet the fans there will be 80% cub fans, as seeing that game vs Nats only had 400 fans 2/3 at Cincy Putting as at 87 wins But we are facing 3 lefties and Pitt gives us fits as it is...
  9. 10 games left guys! Buckle down...This is going to be a bumpy ride!!!! I see it going this way. We win the game today... 1/3 in Pitt 2/3 in Florida 2/3 in Cincy 6-4. That leaves us with 85 wins. Brewers will win today... 2/4 from Braves 2/3 from Cards 2/4 from Pads. That leaves them with 7-3 and a 85 wins. Wow! Can you imagine?
  10. The Braves will give them trouble this weekend. As I said we'll have a 2 game lead by Monday.
  11. I've always kinda had a soft spot in my heart for the Brewers (Not their fan base of course), they always seemed like even harder luck losers than the Cubs, and no one watched them. Their fans are a bunch of annoying whiners, and to top it off, most of them are Packers fans too. (Nothing against you Cubs fans that also root for the Packers, but thats a deadly combination right there) Their team this year pisses me off. But boy do I love those throwback uniforms. I wouldn't be terribly upset if they won the World Series, not nearly as much as those damned Redbirds. Not me. I seriously hate every single one of our opponents in the Central. No soft spot here... How long have the Brewers even been a division rival? If anything, Sox fans should dislike them more than anyone else. What does that matter? They are in the central - they are the enemy.

  13. Ben Sheets may miss his next start,,,We are in fine shape. He may miss a lot more tha that, and dont forget that we face the Pirates this weekend and most likely miss Gorzelanny and Snell. UMFan83 has Zambrano facing Gorzelanny this weekend in his "Probable Starters" thread cubs.com also has Gorzelanny going on Sunday. Not only that but the unstoppable Zach Duke on Saturday. Career 4.20 ERA, but a 1.57 career ERA in 7 starts against the Cubs :?: cubs.com and espn.com both have John Van Benschoten starting Saturday's game for the Pirates. The Pirates have announced that they are going to start Duke on Saturday so they can have 3 left-handers going against the Cubs. The Astro's pull Oswalt and Williams for rookies and Pirates are gunning for us, reworking their rotation so that we see 3 lefties. Who'd we piss off?
  14. I predict we'll have a 2 game lead by Monday.
  15. Ben Sheets may miss his next start,,,We are in fine shape. He may miss a lot more tha that, and dont forget that we face the Pirates this weekend and most likely miss Gorzelanny and Snell. Really? That's fine news indeed. I didn't know that. Thank god!
  16. Ben Sheets may miss his next start,,,We are in fine shape.
  17. Can't win them all. I'll take a spilt from their two best pitchers. Reds should be going for the sweep today, so I'm not at all upset. We have a chance to take the series. That's all you can ask for...
  18. Riggleman would be just about the only other manager I would put in the discussion. It's really hard to judge Cubs managers because of the lack of talent they had. I do know that Baylor, Baker, and Zimmer were all terrible. Riggleman was nothing special either. I'd lump him with Baylor, Baker, and Zimmer.
  19. Lou wants his two best pitchers to pitch as much as possible in the stretch drive.
  20. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=crasnick_jerry&id=3025336 Snip:
  21. I WISH I LIVED IN CHICAGO!! SHFLDJASDSDHDJKLDHASJKDASKDJASHDJKSH You should. It's the best City in the U.S.
  22. It's only 2 days of doing this though. Like someone else said, Marmol, Howry, and Dempster got the day off last night, and those were the only 3 who pitched Sunday. So there is absolutely nobody in the pen who has thrown two days in a row. Even if the Cubs have to go to the bullpen early the next two nights, they should easily have enough rested arms down there, and then the off day Thursday will get the pen back rested again. We are in great shape with two off days. That really sets us up nicely.
  23. Geovany Soto. No question about it. Soto is our MVP.
  24. I have no idea? Might as well have a force at every base. Perhaps the manager didn't trust that Weathers can throw strikes?
