  1. Bingo bango. If that happens, don't expect them to pony up. Why isn't the Tribune company asking Wrigley to pay right now? Because they've got little to no leverage in that negotiation. They can ask, but Wrigley has no reason to pay up unless they think there's a legit chance they will change the name and that will somehow hurt the brand. The Mets didn't name the new park Citi Field and then ask Citigroup to pay for the publicity after the fact. The Tribune never wanted to mess with a good thing I guess.
  2. I have a feeling we are going to shell Mr. Sheets.
  3. This has got to be bogus. Although, I have no doubt he's trade bait. Who isn't? Well, expect Soto.
  4. In summary: Mars bought Wrigley for 23 billion. Wrigley Field/Cubs and Wrigley are entirely different companies. Wrigley does not pay for the name of Wrigley Field. Cubs new ownership could ask Wrigley\Mars to start paying or they'll rename the stadium to the highest bidder.
  5. This is what Steve Wilson (Pac Rim scouting coordinator) had to say about Hung-Wen Chen at the time he signed: "He's the equivalent of a college junior sign in the States. Very polished pitcher, he has the ablility to throw 5 pitches, and has pretty good command of all of them. Pitches comfortably at 89, but will get it up to 91-94 in a closer situation. Has a usable curve, and slider which can be tightened up, but his split can be an out pitch vs. lefties in the big leagues I feel. He can move his fb around, and has a feel for pitching. He's a good athlete, fields his position well, and is tough on the mound." Thanks!
  6. Let's hope that Gallagher and Chen continue their dominance. BTW - Has anyone seen Chen in person? What's his stuff look like?
  7. I have no idea why Sports players and movie stars marry young. Get married in your 40's! Have fun in your 20,30's.
  8. For some insane reason I feel good about this game and the series. I think we looked flat and tired yesterday. A day off and some home cooking well get us going again.
  9. It's a lifetime of pain, not just this April. No, he's right. Games in April don't count, so no need to get upset. well, punching anything about sports is borderline psychotic I should've been committed years ago.
  10. The Brightside: Marmol is getting a 3 day rest. Lilly was effective in his second straight start. Cubs starters have gone at least 6 innings 4 straight games. Soto can't get much worse. Wuertz is coming around. OUR FLIPPIN' RECORD ON APRIL 27 IS 16-9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Uh...They're second in the majors in runs scored. I'd assumed he was joking. Maybe not.
  12. Kinda like how the Nats where cold for this weekend series eh?
  13. It's funny how losing game threads are always much longer then the winning threads.
  14. It would really suck if the D-back's won another championship. That would make two recent expansion teams winning the WS twice...
  15. We'll know in a week or two what kind of team we have. We have the Brewers for three, Cards for three, Reds for three, D-Backs for 3 and Padres for 4. That's a tough little stretch there.
  16. As much as this sucks...We'll take the series from the Brewers.
  17. Well this weekend sucked! Cubs never ever make it easy on themselves.
  18. What really hurt was game 1. We should've won that game.
  19. Well at least Marmol will get a well deserved 3 days of rest.
