  1. Looks like on the video that a couple of djaxx were called out on strikes on pitches that were way out of the strike zone. Would umpires tend to lean toward the Suns because they are down a game?
  2. How do you get video for the broadcast?
  3. The jaxx got a bases loaded walk to score the 7th run. Had something going in the 8th when McGehee hit into a double play to end the inning. Going to the bottem of the 9th now. Do not know who is pitching.
  4. Has anyone tried real player?
  5. Maybe Ophelia decided to visit Jacksonville.
  6. Something has happened to the audio. Hopefully we will get it back. Need to notify Ron.
  7. I saw the replay of Jim Edmond's catch where he dove and caught the ball at the base of the center field fence. All you could see was dust from the warning track. That reminded me of center fielder Buck Coat's catch when he dove and caught the ball in the ninth inning with runners on base and saved the game for the DJaxx. A big cloud of dust!
  8. I heard at the game that Ron was going to shave his head. My first thought was, 'surely not!' I was going to email him and ask him not to, with all that beautiful hair. Ouch! But I was too late. Now that he has, we have got to get DJAXXFAN to take a picture and put it on the NSBB. I hope this does not jink the jax.
  9. Chris, you and Ron make a great team. I could not attend the game tonight because my eyes are dialated. But my ears are not dialated, so I can listen to the game. I think I got the best end of the deal because you and Ron are very entertaining. Enjoying the broadcast!
  10. I talked to DJAXXFAN before the game and he was a little nervous as you would imagine. His mom and dad was with him. I told him just to have fun doing the broadcast and he would do fine. Ron would make him feel right at home. I listened to the game on my radio and I did not detect any nervousness at all. However, he did not get to do any play by play before the game was canceled. Quiet an acheivement. It is amazing to me how many fans across the country are looking forward to this. There certainly is a bond between Cub fans everywhere. And it is not just the DJaxx but all of the minor league teams. I know DJAXXFAN appreciates all of the support that the NSBB posters have given him.
  11. Of course the cubs (notice no capital C) cannot give up but something like reality tells me it's all over. The only salvation is their pitching staff and it just is not deep enough. And please do not try to trade some young players to remedy the situation at this late date.
  12. Francoeur and all the young Brave players is exactly why I am becoming a Braves fan again, along with the Cubs of course. Too bad the Cubs cannont see the light and play some of their young players.
  13. I just posted this on another site. The Jackson Sun has a ariticle entitled, "Two Jaxx Players May Be Trade Bait" saying that Hill and Pie might be traded to Texas for Soriano. Said ESPN broadcast this Fri afternoon. Would the Cubs really do this?

  15. I was just being facetious since Murton is doing so well and we have received practically nothing from Omar. Didn't Omar experience health problems before the Red Sox traded him? Would it be possible that we got damaged goods?
  16. 'Nomar was traded from the Red Sox to Chicago, along with current Cub and former Diamond Jaxx OF Matt Murton in a four-team trade on July 31, 2004'. Looks like Nomar was just a throw-in on that deal!
  17. Everytime they say 'the good guys' I find myself running to the 'head'.
  18. I,m neutral on this one. For the avid baseball fan, names do not mean anything. But to the casual fan who do not know the players, it is a real hindrance. When the Djaxx stopped putting name on the uniforms, I heard a lot of complaints from the fans. I think it would have helped them to identify with the players quicker and may have encouraged them to come back more. There are so many baseball players today that when you turn on the TV to watch a game, unless they have names on their backs, then most people do not know who they are. Including me many times. I'm not going to vote that anything 'sucks'.
  19. Hey, believe me, he will or would if the season does not run out on him first. I think DJAXXFAN would agree with me that the Jaxx players are more than willling to talk to the media most any time. They have to be to put up with us all afternoon. You cannot help but fall in love with them. Jaxx players, if you are reading this, I don't really mean love.. like ..love. Like would probably be a better word. I do have a lot of respect for them as a person and the talent level that was in the clubhouse was exceptional. I,m saying this after they were 'no-hit' but we all know that one game does not mean anything. As Ron Potesta said after the game, 'Sometimes you just have to tip you cap to the opposing pitcher and this is one of those times'.
  20. Because we don't want to use our first round pick on a reliever. Most of the big name, impact players that are drafted get taken in the first round. And what I have heard about JVB is that he doesn't have the greatest of stuff. What does JVB have to do to prove that he can pitch. He came to the DJaxx from the Fort Worth Cats and did nothing but throw strikes and get hitters out. And most of the time the hitters did not even look like they could hit the ball. Now he is doing the same with Iowa. Still everyone seems to think that he does not have the stuff to advance. What different does it make if he can get the job done. I think the Cubs ought to give him a good look. I respect the scouts evaluation of a player and they most always are right. But I still think he should get qet a shot. I had more confidence in him coming in to close a game than any other player at the time.
  21. The front page of the sports section of the Jackson Sun says in big bold letters with a big picture of him, NOMAR'S COMING. Must know what they are talking about!
  22. The Jackson Sun newspaper repoprted this morning that Nomar was going to play for the West TN Diamond Jaxx this weekend, Sat. and Sun.
  23. Thanks for you time. Do all Southern League teams use the same standards in counting the attendance at each game? Is it true that some teams add the season ticket holders to the turnstile count and other do not? What do you do?
  24. In the Southern League, the two teams that have to travel the greatest distance when they play each other is the Carolina Mudcats and the Miss. Braves (839 miles). The shortest distance that two teams have to travel is the Birmingham Barrons and the Montgomery Biscuits (93 miles). The team that has the greatest average distance to travel is the Carolina Mudcats (an average of 594 miles that they have to travel to play a team in the Southern League) followed closely by the Jacksonville Suns (524 miles average). The shortest average distance is the Birmingham Barrons (272 miles per game average). The West TN Diamond Jaxx have to travel 390 miles per game average). Carolina 594 miles average per game Jacksonville 514 Mississippi 420 West TN 390 Mobile 383 Tennessee 372 Montgomery 295 Chattanooga 294 Birmingham 272 All of these games are by bus since the Southern League is double AA. How do other leagues compare?
