  1. And just think.....he was a Cub. And on the cheap.
  2. Pence with a great running catch to save 3 runs.
  3. Dunn with a bases loaded walk for the go-ahead run in the 8th. He was immediately benched by Dusty for not trying to drive in the runs.
  4. Rich Hill ain't coming back anytime soon. Pulled after 2 2/3 innings. 55 pitches only 27 strikes. 2hits, 3K/3BB, 2 runners left on. 3 ER.
  5. If you were at the game, would you want them to leave him in? I'd probably join in the festivities of cheering/booing accordingly. :)
  6. If you were at the game, would you want them to leave him in?
  7. Who the hell is booing? The same folks who gave Edmonds the standing O?
  8. Aren't we going to keep starting Dempster? Then why let him go above 100 pitches? He's looked more vulnerable the last 2 innings. What's the point? Will anyone remember his 'complete game' next week?
  9. Hopefully Dempster can keep rolling. I'm guessing (hoping might be a bit strong) that Marmol is not getting in after his 2IP yesterday?
  10. Jeff Kent HR 2-0 Dodgers in the 7th, man on 3rd still only 1 out.
  11. Andruw Jones HR in the 7th off Sheets 1-0 Dodgers.
  12. Dodgers up 2 in the 9th! Brewers bullpen rules!
  13. 1st and 3rd Dodgers, 1 out. JP at the plate. (And Cubs, please don't lose!)
  14. Dodger tying run at 1st, 1 out for the top of the order.
  15. Bottom of the Dodgers order against Mota in the 9th in Milwaukee. 4-3 Brewers
  16. Unless the Cubs build up about a 15 run lead here, my guess is that Marmol would go back in. It's too bad, but I don't see much way that it doesn't happen. A 4 run lead here does not assure this game. They've been coming back on us all night. This is not the same situation as putting Marmol in with a 6 run lead and the opposing team has shown no signs of life. This game was 96% in the bank at the start of the inning.
  17. I can kind of 'get' letting Marmol practice a bunt in a live situation in case it's required in another close game where he needs to pitch 2 innings, but if (when) he toes the rubber in the 8th Lou should be fired.
  18. Even Lou's not foolish enough to keep Marmol in with a 4 run lead is he? Five runs?
  19. This game will become Dusty's excuse for letting Volquez pitch a 143 pitch complete game with a 6 run lead.
  20. Interestingly, the Cubs have yet to play a game this year while scoring exactly 4 or 5 runs.
  21. C'mon Cubs! This one will be sweeter if we can keep this loss pinned on Peavy. http://www.fangraphs.com/lgraphs/280514116_Padres_Cubs_72492265_live.png
  22. Per Gordon Wittenmyer: Longest leash in the pound.
  23. Career at Wrigley .254/.378/.540 Jim Hendry loves anyone who used to be good against the Cubs at Wrigley.
  24. Anyone care to play guess the contract terms? Hendry is unlikely to go league minimum, because there must be A LOT of other teams interested - so I'll throw out $1M with PA bonuses that could reach $4.
