    Somehow, though, he managed to not miss any subsequent starts. He isn't the same Matt Clement after though.

    Yes, let's fire a guy who actually got us finally competitive and a guy who netted us Ramirez, and Lee along with drafting Prior if I recall right. Let's clean house on a team that's really close to being a playoff team (barring any injuries) because we had one bad year last year and are trying to fix the problems.

    I believe Manny's preference is NY (Yankees, not Mets) I don't see that happening at all. Yankees don't have enough to get him, I believe. I think Manny wants to get as far away from Boston as he can /the reason why he wants to go out West.

    Doesn't Manny want to play out West though and not anywhere near Boston which Baltimore is what? 4-5 hours from Boston? Not sure if he would accept a trade to Baltimore.

    He doesn't have any choice on the issue. Unless he's non-tendered, he's the property of the Cubs. Any chance he would become a distraction though?

    The only question I have back with that: Would Patterson be able and willing to not be a starter and be a bench player considering he's started every year he's been in Chicago, IIRC?

    How many big name free agents have the Cubs signed since Baker has been here? This is serious. Only name that comes to mind is Maddux. Any other big names?

    The Yankees are asking for them to lose Garciaparra early in the season if they want him to play Centerfield.

    If we have the money, why not spend it? I'm trying of not spending any money on decent players, and trying to fill those gaps with par players (e.g. last year).
