  2. [tweet] [/tweet] Hey Jurgen, seems like when you play players out of position they struggle to figure it out quickly. Ja, das ist weird, right? You should ask them why! /slams gear into reverse BEEP BEEP BEEP CRUNCH BEEP BEEP
  3. Evaluating individual results is one thing. The fact that after HALF A DECADE this man's teams show the same issues, game after game, says it all. No organization, no identity, no trust, no clue. These are all good players who play on club teams that manage to have all of those things. It's not the players.
  4. *sound of breaking glass* DEAR GAWD! THAT'S BRIAN STRAUSS' MUSIC!!
  5. Jurgen makes history again. First ever qualifying loss to Guatemala. When he talks about the US Soccer community being unsophisticated, he's not talking about us. He's talking about the morons who haven't canned him yet. Even he thinks it's crazy he's still cashing checks to coach grown men.
  6. Yeah but Lucio was in the box constantly so DiMichelis was the only true defender. He was in charge of service via long ball. Isn't it cool how Michael Orozco plays for Tijuana's u-20 team as a 30 year old but he's a starter for a qualifier with the national team? That makes sense. What happened with that Bayern team anyway? Oh yeah, they fired their idiot coach and lifelong pros who under his management looked like clueless amateurs went back to playing like lifelong pros.

  8. When will America finally develop its own Messi? It's own Ronaldo? It's own Marco Pappa? Until we do, we just have to accept games like this against superior talent.
  9. seriously, this team is fun bad and that's inexcusable. It's the US in CONCACAF. There's no reason to ever plumb these depths regardless of a temporary talent dip between generations. Such a joke of a coach.
  10. Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahqhqhqhq horsefeathering Jurgen. El Pescadido is a legend.
  11. All-time cool guy. 68 is young. Smoking is bad.
  12. I think everyone has been on that one for a while. This is the year Mix achieves so overrated he's underrated status. Because he's entering his prime, because second year in MLS is always better, etc. He' s still miscast on that team.
  13. The annual MLS players survey, aka, the annual American soccer players are extremely salty about the national team, not being good enough for Europe and other people's money survey.

  15. Valdez is a DP. He's a bad DP. He's a try-hard guy. You can't waste a DP slot on a try-hard guy. Why they signed him when they had Clint, Oba, Marshall and Neagle is a mystery to me. Obviously those guys are all gone except Clint, but they were there at the time. They let Pappa, their one-man plan B, go without finding a replacement too. I'm very unimpressed with the Garth Lagerway era so far. They need Torres to come back 100% rust-free which is unlikely. So basically they need a stud CB and a stud, play-making central midfielder. They could also use a better keeper.
  16. It's almost as if their entire attack was to let Clint and Oba combine and improvise and then they sold half of that equation a week before the season.
  17. http://www.starsandstripesfc.com/2016/3/7/11172742/gedion-zelalem-rangers-usmnt-report :( This is pretty spot-on to what we saw from hiim in the U-20 World Cup. He doesn't really do anything that makes your jaw drop positively or negatively. He gets in good enough positions enough to be intriguing, but seldom enough to make you frustrated and wonder why he isn't making himself more dangerous. He's very, very young and the light could turn on with some muscle and experience, but he's not can't-miss like Christian Pulisic appears.
  18. US Soccer rolls out the new crest with an abomination of a home jersey.
  19. Exactly. As compelling a metaphor for old European class issues as it is (know your role, don't be ambitious), watching fans lose their minds over Pyrrhic victories like top 4 for clubs like Tottenham and Everton or avoiding relegation for clubs like Sunderland is too different for me to fully embrace. It causes strange dynamics and massive amounts of non-localized fan bases that don't root for the home team because it's hopeless.
  20. Apparently Charlie Stillitano, the US businessman who does the ICC tournament here with MLS teams and the bigger Euro clubs during their preseason, is over in England pitching breaking off into a UEFA super league. I love it. It'll never happen, but seeing the offense that people are taking online, especially in the height of Leicester mania while these club owners are listening to him tell them about the billions they're leaving on the table playing in their heritage club systems is hilarious. Rich guys are dicks. "Hey United, what's up with these Leicester losers? You shouldn't have to deal with that trash club taking your shine. You should be playing nothing but Champions League opponents, every week! Hey Arsenal, don't worry about winning anything. You won't have to, because since you used to, we'll invite you on the strength of your brand alone! You can finish last and still make trillions!"
  21. I guess that's one way to describe losing to a gimpy short handed Cleveland team in the second round. Never said last year's Bulls were great, but that 'gimpy short-handed Cleveland team' destroyed Atlanta in the ECF, so it's not a huge leap for me that the Bulls could've beaten them. The Bulls haven't been legitimate title threats for 18 years. More than half of our lives. There's been some fool's gold along the way and last year was definitely that.
  22. And using 2014 as their reasoning. With any other coach, I'd be very confident in beating Costa Rica and Paraguay at home.
  23. MLS has is it's first Chinese Super League exit. Shanghai something is paying way too much for Oba Martins. This is good for Jordan Morris.
  24. When Jurgen coached Bayern, his formation was essentially: He had Lahm, DiMichelis and Lucio in the backline. Ze Roberto in the midfield and then essentially a blob of Ribery, Toni, Klose, Muller, Donovan and a dozen other occupying an attacking blob up front with no link play. Before he was even in the US picture I remember being like, this dude is a disaster.
  25. In a related story, Ale Bedoya has 5g and 3a in his last 6 matches with Nantes.
