  2. Due to new FIFA reg changes, Edgar Castillo is now again eligible to play for the US. I say call him up. We need a left back and Mexico rates him as their second choice.
  3. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/soccer/06/11/oguchi.onyewu/index.html Not sure where he'd be on their depth chart. Maybe they don't think they can hold on to Hangeland.
  4. From the twitter desk of Freddy Adu:
  5. They're throwing money in the wrong places. Their back line is ass. They're also making me love Barcelona. They spend $ on their academy and after all this spending, Real still won't get over on them. Although if Pelligrini can actually get this ego fest to listen to him, they are scary.
  6. For a record transfer fee of $92M. That record didn't last long; ManU have accepted a bid of 94 million euro  for Ronaldo from Real, who are now negociating with the player. Oh dammit ManU now have some money to spend this summer. They are probably working fast to get Ribery. Bayern are screwed. They should make a run at an unhappy Robben, Sneijder or Van Der Vaart to fill the hole.

  8. Spector was a revelation. I'm not afraid to say it. It seems laughable that he hasn't been a lock if healthy. The poise, the intelligence and the strength that he plays with is invaluable. I like DeMerit a lot and wonder if Bocanegra's experience at left back for Rennes this season could translate internationally. I don't think he has the speed to do it outside of CONCACAF and quite honestly, I liked Bornstein out left quite a bit. He has his ups and downs, but at least he has the experience that Beasley doesn't have to go with the pace. Bob is still a tactical rube. Landon still has no mahbles. Clint still tries to do too much and then disappears. Rico Clark looked much more useful than Mastro and it's incredibly obvious that despite his clubs troubles, his personality issues and whatever other problems he may have, Benny Feilhaber is our most skilled central midfielder in a pool full of central midfielders. I say, if he's playing for his club, he should be a lock for every roster.
  9. ------------------------------Altidore----------------------------- -------------------------------Adu--------------------------------- ---Torres------Mastro-------Feilhaber--------Dempsey--- -Spector------Bocanegra----DeMerit-------Hejduk------ ---------------------------Howard--------------------------------- If Hejduk isn't ready, Move Spector right, and start Bornstein. Edit - the Confeds Roster: I like the Casey inclusion. He's very much like Kenny Cooper, and I'm not sure he's international quality, but he's one of the players in MLS I'll watch with interest. It also suggests Davies will have a bigger role as the third forward. I like Charlie a lot. He's a little dirty and temperamental, but you don't mind that in a striker.
  10. I'm still just incredibly worked up about Bob Bradley and his tactical retardation.
  11. The issue isn't just a lack of African American players in MLB. It's a systemic lack of African Americans playing baseball from MLB down to t-ball. Basketball doesn't have that problem. White Americans play basketball at all levels, slowly getting filtered out because they aren't good enough.
  12. I don't even know if I want to watch this bs team tomorrow or in SA. I will and I'll probably be drinking. Apparently, Real Madrid has a contract with Ronaldo that if they don't sign him this summer, they owe him (euro sign) 30 million.
  13. Unfortunately, there's no sortable stat category of "White Guy" on basketballreference.com. I guess it'd be between guys like Lee, Hinrich and various other scrubs like Birdman.
  14. Tim Duncan. But seriously, David Lee maybe?
  15. Some prescient thoughts from Pele regarding US-Costa Rica as well as some spot-on highlights read by a soccer [expletive] hit the nail on the head. http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/video?id=4229585
  16. Let's play guess the quote: CR beat down edition! Here's an easy one:
  17. Did Harkes, an American soccer pioneer for club and country, just insinuate that Landon doesn't "lack the bottle?" Using an English aphorism to describe Landon Donovan is particularly loly considering his club record.
  18. I hope it hits the bar and slams back into his vagina.
  19. This is Bradley's shot, imo.
  20. If Landon has the balls to try and take this, he's [expletive] nuts.
  21. What's Edu's status?
  22. The Incredible Disappearing Donovan brings his act back from Munich. Altidore has done ok with what he's gotten. Dempsey too. Almost impossible to judge them because they've had so little to work with. Howard - 5 - not much he could do. Wynne - 2 - bad. Gooch - 1 - too slow. Boca - 2 - bad. Beasley - 0 - Can't play the position. JFT - 5 - Does well shifting direction and point of attack. Mastro - 0 - bad, old, slow, clumsy. He can't play in games where his middle partner doesn't pull his weight distributing. Bradley - 2 - did nothing. Donovan - 0 - Mr. USA was Mr. Invisible. Grow a pair, Landon. Dempsey - 2 - had little say in anything. Altidore - 4 - Worked hard, created the best chance on a through ball in the box to Beasley who didn't follow it. Kljestan - 0 - Embarrassing defending. Adu - 4 - This game would have suited him. Still did little, though more than most. Davies - n/a - not enough time. Was active in limited duty. I'm glad this happened. Wake up, USSF. JUST LIKE IN 06, COMPLACENCY ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH.
  23. Both. It says we still have a coach who struggles tactically. It says we still have players who wait for the game to find them instead of going after it. It says our back line sucks. It says were mentally weak. It's also a venue where no road team wins. It's the worst case scenario for a lot of things that could go wrong but usually don't. A lot of players just finished the stretch runs of their season and may be tired. Bottom line, we don't battle, and if we don't battle on the road against Costa Rica, what is going to happen in the Confed and more importantly the World Cup? It's looking like a repeat of 06 from here.
  24. Lol, Harksey's just "tryin to keep it real." Preach it, brutha.
  25. Well good for Barbados, they really put up a valiant effort against Costa Rica tonight. I'm still not sure when they switched uniform designs.
