  1. No they can't. It's not to insult the Bulls, they're just not on the same level as the top 3. Agree to disagree. The Bulls don't have the front court to hang with the Celtics or Magic and they don't have the defense to slow guys like Pierce or James. The fact that he thinks the Bulls are on the same level as the Magic, Cavs and Celts should tell you it's probably not worth arguing with him. If your basketball thoughts are that bad, and internet post from another fan isn't going to help you.
  2. Deuce film: http://videos.sapo.pt/qO4M3vbfrKaOgro8aTt8
  3. Rose and Noah put in some gym time. It shows. Hinrich is so versatile and Deng is still a good player. All you Hinrich haters can continue to suck it. Salmons still can't catch and shoot which is basically the number one thing you want out of your 2 in a Derrick Rose-led offense.
  4. Ching and Rico Clark play really dirty with the Dynamo. Clark just kicked Nate Jaqua in the face.
  5. Real Guzan film: http://www.noshortcorners.com/2009/10/guzan-show.html Article: http://soccer365.com/english_premiership/story_291009141001.php
  6. You guys should play fantasy basketball. Auction league. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/bridge/index.php?f=25&t=56072&rb_v=viewtopic

  8. http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2009/10/report-brown-out-at-hull-city.html Phil Brown out? Big Bad Brad is really getting a run for his money by Big Bad Brad 2.0. The Worm saved four (4!) penalties last night. 1 in reg and 3 in penalties. O'Neill is all hot and bothered by him and it's pretty easy to see why. Every time dude takes the pitch for Villa he puts on a show in goal. http://soccer365.com/americans_abroad/story_281009150748.php I'll try to find video. Edit - this is the only one I could find:
  9. You think Gooch would get any PT if he were healthy? No. They suck, but not really at that position.
  10. Some hot NBA betting futures action. http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm16/dhohulin/nba1.jpg http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm16/dhohulin/nba2.jpg
  11. I don't agree with this at all. So few have the ability to create solid contact against any pitch all over the zone and have a refined eye for walks. McGwire wasn't that kind of complete hitter but he excelled at maximizing his strengths. In fact, I think someone like McGwire or Dunn are actually more refined because they are maximizing their value by focusing on the what they can do best to create runs. Larry Walker has been mentioned, and if you look at the two guys, both had outside influences that helped their performance and in a vacuum, Larry Walker was so much better athletically he could do things both at the plate and in the field that McGwire would never have been able to do. It's unfair to expect him to. He just had physical limitations that apparently Walker didn't. So I think McGwire actually did more with his skill set because he identified how to maximize what he brought to the table. But of course all of this is unquantifiable and irrelevant and success as a player either has no correlation with success as a coach or it has a negative correlation, so we'll just have to see what happens. Luckily I don't think hitting coaches matter all that much.
  12. Fwiw, Matt Holliday has been working out in the off season at McGwire's home hitting camp/work out program/steroid cycling clinic for the past few off seasons so this might affect Holliday's free agency. I doubt it, but it's not impossible.
  13. He used to be almost Phil Jackson-esque in his use/evangelism of visualization techniques as well as a video freak. I'm sure his approach will be patience + visualization + break down film.
  14. Deuce film at the 2:12 mark: http://www.noshortcorners.com/2009/10/mc-deuce-is-on-song.html
  15. Yeah I like him a lot too. Held his own in the AC Milan and Barca friendlies quite well. Faster and more technical than Gooch and 1 inch taller.
  16. Our CB depth is really bad: Gooch Boca DeMerit Conrad Marshall Goodison Califf? Castillo? Edu? We could always shift Specs into the center, too, I guess. This is another reason Jones will be key-if Gooch is out, we're going to need his bite in the DM spot. All reports are that Castillo sucks at defending. With a weak, slow CB pairing, we can't have a liability who wants to get forward and can't mark anybody. Our depth: Gooch Boca DeMerit Spector Orozco Parkhurst Marshall Conrad Goodson Gonzalez (Omar - Galaxy rookie cb) Califf In the event that Gooch doesn't make it back, I'd go: --Cherundolo----Spector----Boca----Bornstein-- Edu is obviously the wild card considering we don't need another holding mid, especially if Jones makes it back. Fyi, apparently Jozy was late to the match today (strike 1) and twittered about it (strike 2) and Hull isn't happy about it. This on the heels of the Belenseses manager saying he doesn't like Adu's "party every night" attitude.
  17. Oh to live in a world where Freddy went to Inter instead of DC United: We made a star out of a kid who was too immature to not buy into the hype.
  18. Thats an interesting choice... I think we're pretty even matched with them in terms of talent. Same with Denmark. I think it's brilliant. Both games are winnable. Both are loseable. If we win we get the confidence boost of winning against good teams with some famous names in Europe. If we lose, we take it as a lesson on what we need to improve before South Africa. Perfect games to blood Jermaine Jones in as well. Hopefully he is healthy for camp cupcake. He can spend three weeks training and getting to know guys followed by difficult friendlies in familiar environs against familiar players.
  19. Slovakian reports are that we have a friendly with them 4 days prior to the Denkmark friendly: http://theoriginalwinger.com/2009-10-23-us-friendly-with-slovakia-in-november
  20. AHAHAHA I'm holding out for Ty Dothard. You get him, I'll have dozens of questions for him.
  21. Anyone want to join an ESPN Fantasy Auction league? http://www.northsidebaseball.com/bridge/index.php?f=25&t=56072&rb_v=viewtopic
  22. PM me with an email address to send you an invite if you'd like to participate. Draft is Oct 30, a week from this Friday at 7pm cst. It's an auction, so that's fun.
  23. That could be a logical conclusion. Without speculating how much he values what he has invested in the St. Louis area (restaurant, charities, house, kids school, family, etc) the only other reasons he wouldn't want to negotiate this early is he doesn't care about the money (unlikely), the Cardinals offer wasn't worth discussing (unlikely, they know what he's worth) or the aggressiveness of the organization to start negotiations has been over reported (likely).
  24. Derrick Goold's twitter from about 5 min ago.
  25. So you mean to tell me that if you were in line for a huge payday, you wouldn't want to minimize any risks you may have? He's been able to play through this injury, as you've said. Now, especially considering the next off-season chance he'll have for TJS is his contract year, he's not going to opt for it until his next contact. But fine, my post is wildly stupid. You win. It doesn't matter what I'd do. It doesn't matter what you think he should do. It matters what he did. He turned down a contract extension. You're asserting he's going to sign a huge deal and get the surgery. Well, he was offered to start on that huge deal and he turned down the opportunity for now and opted for minor surgery. If it was his goal to maximize earning power and minimize the risk that his elbow would blow before the opportunity to sign a $250,000,000+ contract, THAN HE WOULD HAVE DONE IT LAST WEEK WHEN THAT OPTION WAS OFFERED BY THE CARDINALS. Instead, he has chosen to put off contract negotiations for now and undergo a procedure that doesn't fix the ligament problem. Sounds like he's ok with the risk.
