  1. Shark puts Nyjer in his place.
  2. Jake Fox swings a big bleeping stick.
  3. Kevin Hart doing his best to change that.
  4. Gregg to get the final 5 outs? With the bases loaded? This will not end well.
  5. Bullpen doing the complete antithesis of last night's work.
  6. Brenly really enjoys doing the "too much good stuff" spot.
  7. 2 balls later, the answer is "apparently not."
  8. Oh... so it was. Point remains, though.
  9. What happened to batters having to at least try to get out of the way?
  10. Getting really, really tired of Nyjer Morgan.
  11. No what? I never said La Russa was doing it maliciously, just that he was debating it with the ump. Like Laurens said, you see something like that, it doesn't hurt to double-check it with the official.
  12. After the fact, yes. In-game, he was clearly telling the ump "you sure he's allowed to do this?"
  13. Oh, it was terrific. In the top of the 9th inning of last Sunday's nightcap against the Cardinals, score of 4-2 Cards at the time with two men on and nobody out, Lou brought in Marshall, who promptly walked Nick Stavinoha to load the bases. Needing to remove Marshall but keep him available for the left-handed hitters who were still due up in the inning, Lou got creative. He removed Soriano from the game, moved Marshall to left field and brought in Heilman. Heilman struck out the next batter on a 3-2 pitch, at which point Heilman was removed, Marshall moved back to the mound and Johnson brought in to play left field. Marshall got the next batter swinging, and just for good measure, the final out of the inning was on a diving, stumbling catch by Reed in left field that was clearly a trap and not a catch. Tony La Russa tried to argue the move, Joe Morgan couldn't understand and tried to argue the move, but for what it was, it worked like a charm.
  14. I guess Sori's finger healed faster than they thought. Lou said it'd be a few days until the swelling went down.
  15. If the Brewers want to annually trade their best prospects for rental pitchers, let them. Make no mistake, Halladay would pitch well and keep the Brewers in contention for the year and a half that he's on the team and then he'll hem and haw over how great an experience it was to play in Milwaukee and hit up all of the city's best all-you-can-eateries with Prince Fielder and how he's "considering the Brewers' offer" and then bolt for big-payday free agency as soon as he can. It helps everyone else in the division for a smaller-market, smaller-payroll team to continually give up their best prospects for a player who won't be with the team long-term, particularly when that player would be owed nearly $16 million in 2010, nearly 1/5 of what will likely be an $80 million-ish payroll.
  16. I could see where the Sakuyamon avatar would be a bit off-putting.
