    It just seems to me that if his wrist were the problem, he wouldn't have had any power late last season or in the spring. I'm certainly not saying that's absolutely not the case, though.

    Had surgery on the shoulder a few months ago. He won't be doing anything of note this season, at least.

    They've brought in players not on an All-Star roster to compete before, most recently Hee Seop Choi in 2005 (although that was to represent Korea in the "international-format" Derby), and supposedly they were going to ask Ryan Howard to defend his title even if he didn't make the roster. I think it's stupid as all get out; you're not going to put a guy on the All-Star roster, but you're going to ask him to blow up his time off just to come in and compete in an exhibition?
