  1. Wasn't he on Hendry's shopping list in the '05-'06 offseason?
  2. I'm well aware of this; even with the myriad of ways in which the '08 Cubs are better than the '07 Cubs, I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop and for us to simply stop playing this well. It has to come at some point, because I'm still personally not sure we really are this good. My point was more that I can't at all see what gives Brewers fans, of all people, currency to run their mouths like this.
  3. Do you suppose that fellow realizes that if the standings remain as they are now, the Cubs could lose... what, 7? of those 10 remaining games and still hold a lead over the Brewers? I'm also a big fan of "they're still the Cubs," because we all know the Brewers have the long and distinguished history of success that gives their fanbase free reign to be talking about the fated fortunes of other teams.
  4. Holy kiss of death, Batman. I hope I never hear the names Andrews or Yocum mentioned in the same sentence as any of my joints or ligaments.
  5. The physical hats themselves aren't the problem - they're normal 59FIFTYs, just bend the brim consistently for a week or so and they'll be fine in no time - it's the designs. I mean, look at these: http://www.lids.com/rid/214?team=143 Who would wear some of these?
  6. Ballgame. Brewers go down quietly in the 12th.
  7. Can't imagine why you'd want such a thing, but http://www.neweracap.com/eshophtml/eshop/productDetail.cfm?familyGroup=11054&pageNumber=3
  8. I agree. 8-[
  9. Ju-li-an! Ju-li-an! Ju-li-an!
  10. Even the fact that he's not on the Reds?
  11. Edwin Encarnacion homers off of Papelbon to tie the game 4-all in the 9th. I'm torn; I like seeing the Red Sox taken down a peg, but I hate seeing the Reds do it, particularly at home where they can shoot off the damn fireworks and the fans can cheer and cheer until the next series when they'll fail to fill even half of the park.
  12. They look a little bit alike, although Pedroia definitely looks more ratlike.
  13. I'll be there on the fourth! Do I cheer or do I boo? It'll be like the Futurama episode where the exploding supernova and the microwave popcorn combine and cause destruction; you'll see blue energy and red energy spreading and meeting in the middle and then a time-space hole gets torn open.
  14. This is the move that will return the Mets to their perceived rightful place high atop the NL East.
  15. He did it at least once, last season at the Cell to throw out Konerko.
  16. Pat Burrell homers with a man on, score is 3-2 Cards top 4.
  17. I have to wonder, how badly does it hurt the ego of a hitter when he faces a position player pitching in a blowout and he makes an out?
  18. How Taguchi is he?
  19. The more you mention the reverse jinx, the higher the chances that it doesn't come though. :|
  20. Aaron Miles pitching for STL, I called it! :rotfl:
  21. It'd be great if his team started to do the same consistently.
  22. Meh. Division's not gonna change any. Amazing how little one loss rankles me, the way the team's playing overall.
  23. Not the prettiest inning, but a goose egg just the same.
