  1. Hawk blaming everything from the sun to the scorer to the infield dirt for the Sox's struggles today. Somewhat comforting after a tough loss.
  2. Justin Duchscherer with Oakland in 2005.
  3. He's still serviceable out there at the very least, and it's not as if the Cubs have used him out there without an injury and/or or a day off for Fukudome necessitating it.
  4. I liked it better without the fake rallies. Also, yeah, strike 3 to Ward was outside. Go check your cell, blue, whole bunch of missed calls waiting for you.
  5. That's sort of an ugly lineup, but who knows. Even if we lose and the two hangers-on win today, Cubs go into the break no worse than 4.5 up on the 2nd place team.
  6. It's funny how the system works. You're absolutely right about Marmol as he's been pitching lately, but apparently he was selected to take Woody's roster spot because he was the reliever with the next highest vote total on the player's ballot. So at the time that the voting was conducted - I don't know when that was exactly, figure a month-month and a half ago - he was still Good Carlos. Couple that with the facts that - Marmol did some of his best work against Colorado, including that 10 pitch, 3 strikeout inning against them in May - Hurdle, as has been previously stated, appears to be following the player vote to the letter and you get Carlos Marmol chartering a flight to New York tonight.
  7. Broken or not, he's now an All-Star. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=txcubsmarmol&prov=st&type=lgns #-o
  8. I called this a month ago after realizing that Marmol did some of his best work against Hurdle's Rockies at Wrigley in May.
  9. The Giants offense was the Giants offense yesterday, it was poor pitching and fielding by Marmol and Theriot that made it look better than it was for about 10 minutes.
  10. I'm not positive that Lincecum, Demp and Webb will be unavailable. Wouldn't they be pitching a between-starts side session about 2 days from now anyway?
  11. The fact that I edit them that way helps too.
  12. It's like some sort of unholy mutated combination of Vin Scully and Suzyn Waldman with lots more shouting and none of the actual talent of the former.
  13. Can't thank you enough for that. :-&
  14. Where do the Cubs' leads on both teams stand at present?
  15. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! \:D/
  16. Hawk doesn't call games so much as he chews them up and spits them out like a wad of tobacco.
  17. That was fast.
  18. And Nady makes the 3rd out. But the game is tied! ...except now the Cardinals get to face the dregs of the Pittsburgh bullpen. Slag.
  19. There is no free option.
  20. http://home.comcast.net/~bcvm22/cubs/7122008.mp3 Enjoy. The sound Ron makes at 0:19 is something special; I may have to turn that into a ringtone or an alarm or something.
