  1. Until Ludwick or Miles or some other scrub du jour hits a 10-run homer and the Cards pull out a win.
  2. Hate when it's only the 6th and I'm reduced to cheering on the Reds and Dodgers.
  3. And that the Dodgers couldn't run the bases properly to save their misbegotten lives. Idiots.
  4. Come on, Manny!
  5. You keep writing checks that your pitching arm can't cash, it's going to catch up to you eventually.
  6. What a terrible signing DeRosa was. 3 years, $13 million? What a waste. ;)
  7. Watching this game is a lot less stressful when I already know the outcome.
  8. Not accurate on either count. For one, he's not an announcer, he's a color analyst. There's no question he'd be absolutely terrible as a play-by-play man, but as a color analyst, his analysis may be wonky but there's no doubt he brings color to the broadcast. He's the shouting fan inside the booth; he's the player who's seen this franchise do what they do for the better part of the last 50 years or so, and he brings every one of those memories with him to the microphone. You can hear the highlight I posted; the broadcasts simply aren't the same without him. I think that with any other PBP man but Pat, Ron simply wouldn't work, but by this point the two have worked together long enough that they play off of each other perfectly. For another thing, there are worse by far. Just look to the TV booth on the other side of town if you need an example. Listen to a Pirates TV broadcast, particularly against the Cubs. ("If Sean Burnett can shut 'em down right here, the offense can get him his first win since 2004. And the 0-2 to Johnson... oh no... no, no, NO!") As insane as he is, Ron isn't afraid to call out Cubs players when they screw up blatantly. He's not the worst broadcaster among the 30 MLB teams at all. For one more thing, he's resting all this road trip anyway, so we won't hear him again until Tuesday.
  9. That's beyond me, particularly since the online video feed (and thus any official highlight clips from Cubs.com) was the Marlins feed by virtue of them being the home team. I can tell you that CSN is doing the game encore right now. It just started, so they should be to the 9th by... sunrise, maybe?
  10. http://home.comcast.net/~bcvm22/cubs/8152008.mp3 Ron would have made this call so much better. As it is, Otto could only grunt in amazement at the Ward HR.

  12. Pat and Otto call coming, watch this space. 10 minutes, tops.
  13. You overestimate the offense tonight, I think...
  14. Willingham made a great effort to get out of the way there.
  15. It's amazing what playing in this park does to the Cubs. It causes them to absolutely self-destruct.
  16. I don't have a problem with giving Aramis the night off; he was due for one even without the hip bruise. Let him rest and have him come back tomorrow.
  17. I hope not, Cubs are 0-3 this season in games where Zambrano homers.
  18. I started :lol:ing pretty hard when REM started up. Great choice of lyrics.
