  1. I don't agree with that, but we are all entiled to our opinions. Because Wade Miller made several starts at the end of the season, and did QUITE GOOD, even with lower velocity. For that, I beleive he showed he was actually rehabbing, and getting better. Therefore I think he will make a good amount of starts next year. I really look foward to him contributing in some way. I also disagree that our offense won't be great. For 1 derrek Lee will be back, Aram is entering his prime, and we now have 3 big bats, not just 2. i hope your right. i do think of the 3 (miller, prior, wood) that wade has the best chance of remaining healthy. as far as Aramis entering his prime...YOUR RIGHT MY FRIEND!! Aramis is a flat out stud. im thinking he tops 120 RBIs this year. if Lee stays healthy, it will give us 3 solid bats with the addition of Soriano. again, im not ready to say we'll be great offensively though. im hoping to hell Hendry doesnt ink Marquis. im also in the camp that doesnt think Jock should be traded unless we get somebody relatively decent. anyway i look at it, even as we stand now we're a better team than last year. but as we stand now im not ready to predict playoffs. i some of the more positive people around here are right.
  2. it pains me to say this but im thinking its pretty realistic to believe that we will make only 2 more moves....jason marquis and kenny lofton. marguis had a 6.00+ ERA last year. lofton ive always loved but he is 39 years old. i really cant make any predictions on how we'll do in 2007 but i fully expect prior, wood, and wade miller to be inactive for the entire year. i do believe lee will be healthy. i think our offensive will improve but not be great and i think our pitching will struggle mightily.
  3. i would never in a million years count of wade miller and mark prior combining for 35 starts. i wouldnt count on anything more than 1 single start for the entire seaon out of both of them combined. i have said this countless times, but for us to pencil in prior/wade for anything is insane...let alone 35 starts. in my opinion, i wouldnt even act like either exist and we should plan on neither being on the roster and IF we get anything out of either of them its a bonus. i also would include wood into that category and just plan on him riding the pine for the entire 2007 season.
  4. considering im highly edjumacated, im predicting 1 appearence out of the bullpen in which he loads the bases and gives up a moonshot grandslam. immediately afterwards he heads back to the DL to finish playing his 3-year long game of monopoly with prior.
  5. i am not willing to pencil prior into anything more than 2 starts for the entire season in which he gives up 5-8 runs each. he may not be finished for his career, i have no idea. but to pencil him in as a starter for any lengthy period of the 07 season would be insane. act like prior doesnt exist and if he gets healthy and gives us anything its a bonus.
  6. Ron Woo Woo (the fan, not that poster) will lose all his teeth AGAIN.
  7. i guess its time to retire my macias jersey. :D no seriously i dont have any jerseys. but id definitely wear a cubbie jersey. id go for Aramis Ramirez, who is my favorite cubbie. my other favorite player is the Horse, Carlos Zambrano, who'd i also consider. everytime i go to a bears game i see this guy who has a bears jersey with MARINO on the back. my co-worker is a Sox fan and we argue everyday about cubs/sox. id like to get him a sox jersey with NEIFI PEREZ on the back. he'd burn it though.
  8. yikes. $8M for cliff floyd? ill believe when i see it... so that would bring us to...what...$108M-$110M on the year? with still 2 starting pitchers needed. there are way too much ifs involved but IF floyd is signed for that price and IF the payroll can reach $125M, we're looking at $15M-$17M left for two starters minimum.
  9. Ramirez 2006 stats: actual: .291, OBP .352, 38 HR, 119 RBI prediction: .318, OBP .369, 41 HR, 119 RBI well atleast i got the RBI's right. 1 outta 4 isnt bad! as for the Dlee projections...we wont go there. :)
  10. now if we just sign Hank Aaron we'll win the world series!!
  11. i really have no qualms about the cubs spending money. its not my money. i just couldnt go into yet another season with absolutely no hope. now there is atleast some hope that if lee, ramirez, and soriano are healthy we'll be decent. another 66-win season and nobody in this world could talk me off the ledge.
  12. wow this had been really painful to read. i think i need to call my sponser.
  13. bring back sammy!!! ok that was a bad bad joke.
  14. the paramedics just revived me. they said i had a massive brain hemmorage and heart failure. they found me lifeless with my limp fingers stuck on foxsports.com reading about soriana singing an 18-year deal worth over $500M with the cubs. i am now recovering from my stroke/heartattack/anerysum. he will be 57 years old when the contract expires. never in a million yeaars did i envision us shelling out $73M to ramirez and $135 to soriano. hell as officially frozen over.
  15. whats are the odds we even add one big-time FA? its very early on in the off-season, but historically the cubs market themselves as being players every off-season. we already spent $73M on Aramis (which im thrilled we did) but the end result seems to be lacking. is hendry really going to shell out $90-110M for soriano? i honestly dont know. i undertand that nobody here really knows...but im curious if people truely think soriano or some other bigname FA is truely realistic.
  16. man the cubs are stingy. remember last year when they wouldnt give zambrano the extra couple hundred thousand.
  17. way too much has been made abour pierre's bas year. he still hit what .275 and stole what 50-60 bases? both his request, prior, and zambrano's are legitimate in my opinion.
  18. ladies and gentlemen, the beginning of the end for the hendry reign. i think once we finish with 80 wins again and out of the playoffs, both him and dustafarian baker will be out the door.
  19. wow i didnt think people would cry about me joking about how slow uncle greg's fastball is. besides, we all know its 65 mph. the truth being uncle greg's ERA has risen in recent years and his fastball has slowed down (if thats possible).
  20. those stat predictions are based on massive amounts of analysis you did, right? because real men their eyes.
  21. im thrilled to pay wood and uncle greg $21M this year, absolutely thrilled. here is what we're looking at: wood: 88 IP, 2-4, 4.88 ERA uncle greg: 206 IP, 13-17, 4.61 ERA, 48 mph fastball who's hyped? when wood and uncle greg are on the mound, we get the pleasure of seeing jacque jones bat .247 in the 5th hole. or neifi perez batting 2nd and starting at short stop. wooo hooo!!!!! (kills himself)
  22. if he can think of a way to attain chone figgins without it being a transaction, more power to him.
  23. the angles have no reason to trade him but i would die to get him. he can play so many different positions we could put him anywhere. i would give up pie for him. whats the price tag on a guy like figgins?? figgins did pretty good in 05: .290 BA .352 OBP 64 SB tell me you wouldnt like a pierre-figgins combo at the top of the order with lee and aramis following.
  24. id like to get me chone figgins. he can play so many positions and he has alot of speed. him and pierre would be tremendous threats to steal. angels aint trading figgins though.
