  1. I know everyone is down on Jacque Jones, and I like everyone else wish that Hendry would explore other options...but I read something interesting in Carrie Muskat's Mailbag article on the Cubs website. I didn't know that Jones was injured most of last year. Were some of you aware of this? "Jones, 30, hit .249 with 23 homers and 73 RBIs, struck out 120 times, and stole 13 bases. He did battle a strained oblique muscle in the second half of the season". http://cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20051217&content_id=1283534&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  2. Sorry, if this has been posted already but would y'all be for the Cubs taking a chance on Japanese lefthander K. Ishii? (Man, I don't even want to take a chance on spelling his name) As you are all aware, the Mets released him yesterday. Do you think Rothschild could get his mechanics straightened out? His he worth the gamble? How's is y'alls Japanese?
  3. I would consider D.Lee an untouchable at this point.
  4. ---Thanks guys. Man, I need to pray for patience (spelling?). This is driving me nuts, I'm hoping we have some good news on the Cubs soon. I do believe that Hendry is trying hard to make something happen.
  5. Gammons was suppose to come on "Mike and Mike" /ESPN News, this morning, I had to finish getting ready for work this morning, so I missed it. Just wondering if there is any new information with regards to the Cubs. Did anybody hear anything?
  6. As has already been mentioned, Aramis is probably my favorite player on the Cubs...but having said that, if it nets us Tejada and M.Ramirez in this proposed multi-player trade-- then I say do it. Can't remember if Pie was part of the package (but I seem to think he was), I would hate to trade him for anyone but I would gladly do it for Tejada or Abreu...and maybe Cabrera or Willis, if they ever become available. Oh, one other thing. I know how we can properly discern as to whether this trade idea really did come from God. If the trade works out for the Cubs and we end up winning the WS, then this trade proposal truly came from God but if just the opposite happens...then this idea came from "el diablo" himself. LOL!
  7. Is_Pedro_There said "I don't think Derrek and Carlos are related. I'm only kidding..." ---Yeah, I know you're right but if we were to get him, I wonder what type of nicknames the fans would come up with. GO HAWKEYES!!!!
  8. Meat&PotatoesMan says "I think the last century has proved pretty conclusively that God doesn't like the Cubs". ---I disagree good buddy, God actually loves the Cubs. e.g. Jesus as God suffered for us. Plus, we add to the fact that no one suffers more in this world, than Cub fans. Finally, we bring in to the equation, that God's ways are different than Man's ways. Hence, because God allows suffering in this world... we will all have to suffer a little more before the Cubs win the WS. Yeah, yeah I think that's right. I at least started out pretty good. Some deep theological stuff huh?
  9. If not the Ramirez Brothers in 2006 (Aramis and Manny), then why not the Lee Brothers in 2007 (Derek and Carlos)?
  10. JIM IS DOING SOMETHING BUT IT TAKES TWO PARTIES TO MAKE A TRADE!!!
  11. First of all, Nomar was one of my favorites, I play my videos of: "his first game as a Cub" and "Mia Hamm Day" over and over again. I really hate to see him go, I really wish he could have finished his career as a Cub (maybe somewhere down the line). However, many with the Red Sox organization as well as the Cub organization, would tell you that he is financially not worth the risk. The thing I admire about Hendry the most, (besides his patience and persistence) is that he cared enough about Nomar to tell him the truth, that it would be in his best interests to seek employment elsewhere. And for that he's called an idiot? You're kidding right?
  12. I get so sick and tired of all these posters that do nothing but blast Hendry, already they have given up all hope for next year. Oh please! people are so negative, and then the first moment Hendry pulls off a trade they like, they're singing Hendry's praises. I for one, am glad that Jim Hendry is our GM and not some of the posters (including myself) on this board. Remember that it takes two parties to make a trade. Why is it always, solely Hendry's fault when we don't acquire a player we want through a trade or free agency? A Cub fan is never satisfied.
  13. Unbelieveable. Melvin Mora even confirmed that he wanted to be traded, not to mention that Peter Angelos ripped him in the paper...and then he changes his mind? Oh well, maybe the Cubs are better off. He's making a big mistake. I would imagine Sammy told him what a wonderful park, Wrigley Field was to play in.
  14. ESPN News is now reporting that Miguel Tejada is saying that he never asked to be traded. What a psyco!
  15. Meat&PotatoesMan said "If Hendry gives up Prior or Zambrano for a 30 year old SS, I'm going to be really upset. I don't think he'll do it". ---Relax, Jimbo will not do it. Prior and Zambrano are untouchables. If Hendry is unwilling to part with one of these guys for Abreu, he certainly isn't going to do it for Tejada. Baltimore can keep dreaming!
  16. Maybe Nomar changed his mind about playing in the outfield but initially he said he wouldn't. I'll miss Nomar, he really was a class act but I think people need to get off Hendry's back-- it was Garciaparra in the first place that indicated he would only play in the infield. I thank Hendry for one, in making it possible to even get No-mah!
  17. It was mentioned earlier on another board that "xm radio has reported that the Cubs have contacted the Orioles about Miguel Tejada". --If this is true, it's nice to see Jimbo at least inquiring about him. http://forums.espn.go.com/espn/thread? forumID=45&threadID=2808003&lastPostID=16810616
  18. It was reported earlier on XM radio that the Cubs have contacted the Orioles about Tejada. --If this is true, it's nice to see Jimbo at least inquiring about him. It would be great if we could get him and trade Patterson at the same time.
  19. Just heard on ESPN News that Tejada is telling officials he wants to play on the East coast, preferrably for the Red Sox. Didn't like hearing that. I say the O's need to teach him a lesson for sounding off, by shipping him to the Cubs! That's it Baltimore don't get mad, just get even!
  20. Oh man, this is too good to be true. In my book, Tejada is the best SS in all of baseball! I was so bummed that we didn't get him a couple of years ago. Whatever the O's want, give it to them! I'll start praying my Novena prayer tonight that the Cubs can land the best clutch SS in baseball.
  21. Judging by the responses to my post, it's obvious people could care less, about the Spankees. LOL!
  22. I say go after Kevin Millwood. A Maddux/Millwood reunion would be great for the Cubs.
  23. I would be bumming big time! Every team in the AL East (especially Toronto and Boston) has improved in one way or another, and all the Yankees have done is offer arbitration to Bernie Williams and trade Tony Womack! You would think they would have done something at the meetings, although I know the Cubs beat them to the punch on Howry and Pierre. I would have thought they would have some interest in Patterson but what could offer in exchange for him? There's nothing I can think of, that I would want.
  24. Like Cairo, Vizcaino was another player I wish the Cubs would have hung on to.
