  1. Juan Pierre grounds out to third base to end the inning.
  2. For those that have DirecTV and the Sports Package the game is being broadcast on channel 649, but the announcers aren't Len and Bob.
  3. Shawn Green ends the inning with a popup. 2-0 Arizona
  4. DIEHARD is Scott McClain. He was a minor league first basemen for the Cubs up until this year.
  5. Grissom with the double now makes it 2-0 Cubs.
  6. I'm pretty sure the Met is Aaron Heilman.
  7. How do you feel about Hendry now? That he makes the Cubs suck now AND in the future. Actually they just lost their 4th round pick. The 2nd round pick was lost long ago when the Cubs sign Scott Eyre.
  8. At this point a youth movement would probably be best, but then you have to figure with Dusty that's never going to happen. Hopefully Ronny and Matt don't go on a prolonged slump, otherwise they may get nailed to the bench. If Jacque Jones does indeed sign I cringe to think about how bad the offense is going to be in 2006. It's going to be 2005 all over again, but this time without an MVP calibur season from Derrek Lee. It's sad to think about, but at this point I'm ready to pack it in for the 2006 season. Hopefully the Cubs can get a competent GM and manager for 2007, but that would be too logical.
  9. The first time Kerry Wood pitched out of the bullpen was August 5th, when he pitched an inning against the Mets. For a date when I thought the Cubs were realistically out of the playoff race was the very beginning of July, when they had an 8 game losing streak. The latest I could see would be August 10th, when they had finished off a losing streak of 9 games.
  10. On Neifi and Defense We obviously need to shore our defense. Defense in the infield is a priority. Bringing Neifi back, no matter what role he ends up being in, is a positive because he catches everything. Outfielders We would like to find the right guy that could really help us. We've got some decisions to make in house obviously. We don't go into it looking like we have to have power, we have to have the best player. Trades What we're going to see is a certain amount of clubs all chasing the same 10 to 12 free agents, or a lot of that group. When the music stops, and all those guys get signed, all of us will still have holes to fill that aren't available in the free agent market. So the change in scenery trades I think you'll see some of those. We can help you over here, we got some pitching we can give you for this guy. I think you'll see some good, fair, old baseball trades being made this winter. This is the best transcription I could get from what Jim Hendry said during the interview.

  13. I'm a little late to this, but here is my team anyways. I chose to use a budget of $75 million so I couldn't just cram All-Stars on my team, but I still made a team that even Dusty could win 90+ with.
