  1. He's an above average RF and has a cannon for an arm. He made the switch to RF when Lee came aboard.
  2. jenkins is a very good option. but would they trade within the division? I think they would if the offer is right. I think they would want to get another starter or some middle relief. Possibly Patterson?
  3. He is looking more and more appealing by the day. I don't really like him too much, but if you give the Brewers the right offer, it would be hard for them to not move Jenks $7 mill contract.
  4. Amazing what happens when your team wins the world series.
  5. ... I didn't get to listen but did Bruce really say "no chance" in these scenarios? No, was in a hurry...he said that the management in TB move very slowly and Huff has been put on the back, back, back burner. IN other words, no real chance at getting him. He also said that the Dodgers GM isn't very friendly with Dusty so the odds of him dealing with the Cubs are pretty much slim to none. In other words, no real chance of getting him.
  6. nothing new. No chance to land Huff. No players names exchanged in minimal talks for Tejada. No chance at Bradley. Jones is probably one of several different solutions Hendry is looking at to fill RF.
  7. Boston Red Sox to play RF after they trade Manny.
  8. Why not trade him to Boston for Ramirez. Houston gets their big bat and Boston gets their closer. I'm sure Boston would pick up some salary. Just food for thought.
  9. 6 baseballs. If the cubs were lucky.
  10. true, but it's fun to think about.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised to see a team like the Brewers pick him up and hope that Maddux can work some magic with him.
  12. BA and K's are just questions I have about Wilks game. How would trading for Wilkerson not be settling for mediocrity? You make it sound like every move the Cubs make should be "knock your socks off" big. How many big moves did the Sox make last year? Last time i checked they won the world series. And, last I checked, Pierre was injured last year as well. Why isn't he getting any breaks like wilkerson? Like I said, I have no problem with either player. I do like Pierre better because he has speed and can alter the oppositions game more then wilkerson can by reputation alone. But if the cubs were to get wilkerson, I wouldn't have any problems with it.
  13. I've got no problem with Wilkerson. I'm just extremely curious how a career .256 hitter that strikes out 150 times a year is that much better then a career .305 hitter that steals a lot more bases and has only struck out 211 times in 845 games? When it comes down to it, just be happy that the Cubs finally have a legit, and good, leadoff hitter. What's the worst that's gonna happen? Pierre sucks, the Cubs bring up Pie, and the Cubs don't win the world series, again.
  14. Why does everyone on this board seem to be sweating Wilkerson? The guys numbers are attrochious at best. Regardless, I like Pierre and think it's a good trade. I really don't care that we gave up Nolasco and Pinto, they would have never played for the Cubs anyways.
  15. Farnsworth will be John Rocker hated in NY come the All-Star Break in 06.
  16. Jenkins is as streaky as a player as you will find in all of sports. Although, he is a good defender and has played both LF and RF. Then again, I have also seen this guy strike out 5 or 6 times in one game. Not worth the 7 million he makes.

  18. I hear what you are saying. The off-season just started and everyone should be patient. My only beef is that I waited around all of last off-season to see the Cubs not sign or trade for a lead-off man or a closer (thank god Dempster finally got the nod), the two most glaring needs at the time. Maybe Hendry is just a terrible multi-tasker and spent too much time and attention on trying to dump Sosa. I just think this off-season will either make or break Hendry.
  19. the cubs will be more in a position to be sellers than buyers in the next couple weeks.
  20. I think that there is a better chance that the Cubs are one of the teams that fade in the next few weeks. But I sure hope not.
