  1. It's heresay! If it was a big deal and important then it would have taken Fred Mitchell probably 5 minutes to get the Canary singing about the corking incident. Sammy got caught and anyone else who had a corked bat that night learned a valuable lesson. It cost Sammy more then just a suspension to me it was the start of his decline or better yet the sign that he wasn't the player I thought he was.
  2. Sending Pie down to work on his approach at the plate in the minors is a big mistake. They pitch differently in the minors and he needs to learn how to change his approach at the major league level. Jones is a veteran and will soon figure out what his major malfunction has been. As far as Izturis. Hendry got away with one with Hundley deal and the baseball gods got him back with the Maddog deal!
  3. If Pie can get on track, meaning they work on his approach at the plate, he will be the type of player everyone is looking for. Jones is struggling no doubt but he has expirence and thus a better chance of breaking out of the funk he is in. As far as the Izturis interest any GM that acquires him will be the laughing stock of his town. Hendry screwed that one up. I think he knows that and he also knows he's stuck with the mess. We got the Dodgers with the Hundley deal and they got us back with the Maddog deal!
  4. Dempster makes things interesting sometimes but in no way is he a problem for the Cubs. Rojas was a problem, Six fingers was a problem, Dempster is Dempster! I like the idea of putting him as a starter again call me crazy but it might work and Marmol could really find his nitch as the closer.
  5. Thinking about things and seeing the way the Cubs have played the last 20 games. It's exciting to know that we are in this thing and not just sinking into a miry of mud. Is it just ironic that the Cubs have played their best ball since Barrett was dealt? I don't think what we have in the catching area is going to be suitable especially next year but it might get us through this year. I don't see anyway the Cubs can improve in this area, however I think a blockbuster trade of sort is not out of the question for the Cubs. We need one more reliable pitcher and a centerfielder that can produce at the plate get on and or drive in the runners on. I've read wish list ranging from Loften to Jr. Why settle for those options and not try to pull off the deal noone thinks can be done Andrew Jones get another team involved and get a pitcher like Matt Morris that can keep us in the game eat up innings and give the bullpen a rest. We would have to give up some talent no doubt I think Hill or Marshall are pitchers teams would love to have. As far as the catcher situation hopefully Hendry can get lucky there and find one that will be productive at and behind the plate!
  6. I've been out of the loop this year and been working alot so I hope me asking about leftfield is not a dumb question. It seems to me that it is a blaring hole and something the Cubs need to address. Is there any chatter on what direction the Cubs are going.
