  1. As much as I thought i would never Trade either of them I would do Prior and Aram for Arod. i would think that would be pretty close to even If we have to send another prosepct send Dope.
  2. I have begun to think same think. When he traded for Nomar I thought he was getting a steal, and was the smooth operator some claimed him to be, but since then Im not sure i can think of more than a coupe moves i have liked
  3. What qualifies as a quality start, I heard them mention a couple nights ago that someone did not pitch well enough for a quality start. Just curious if there are set criteria.
  4. first off i cant believe my log in still worked its been a long time!! Thanks for not closing my account Tim. quick question. What is the perpose of protecting some earlier than you would have to. For example i thought that would could have kept Dope off the 40 man for another year, so why put him on if hes not gonna make the team next year out of camp?
  5. Does Leyland have verten fetishes, abuse pitchers, or any other major coaching flaws we should know about?
  6. Van Buren if he keeps performing. I would like to see him get a call up in September to see how he does.
  7. I beleive he does but he has said he may waive it to go to a contender.
  8. So, basically what you're saying is you want to give this team another shot? :-s No Im saying thats what I think WILL happen. What I WANT to happen is completly different. I guess i should have made that more clear sorry.
  9. I thought i heard somewhere that he wanted to play with his brother (Atlanta) before his career was over, but i could have dreamed that somewhere
  10. I love giving the young guys a chance but i really doubt that we get all of Cedeno, Murton, Pie, Hill, and to whom ever mentioned Greenburg, Pinto, and Aarsma all on the team at the same time. Ill address the young guys one at a time: I think realisticly we could expect to have Pie in AAA next year and be one of the first call ups. Murton has a good shot at making the team outta ST and sticking as either a starter or 4th OF. Greenberg could be a 5th OF/pinch runner, I think he does have a decent shot at making the team next year. Cedano could be the back up SS/Utl IF, but im gonna say he starts the year in AAA too. Hill has a good shot at staying the rotation the rest of the year and having a spot next year too. Its all on how he pitches now. Aarsdma and Pinto I give a very slim chance of making the team next year, they may see the majors at some point (I think Aarsdma has a much better shot at this) but i dont see them next year Personally I see the following returning: Nomar (cheap), WAlker, maybe Lawton depending on performance, Dempster Id love to have Jesus but Im not gonna hold my breath. Therefor my 2006 Cubs: 1st Lee 2nd WAlker ss Nomar 3rd Aram RF Lawton CF Patterson LF Murton/FA c Barrett Bench: Perez (unless Hendry decides to take away one of Dusty' toys) Murton/FA Greenberg Blanco Utl If (possibly Macias) Rotation: Prior Z Maddux Wood Hill/Williams Pen: Dempster Ohman Weurtz Novoa Williams (if arm holds up) Rusch I could see us going out a getting a WAgner or addressing this through trade. Mitre is gone in a trade along with Welly and a few others to clear 40 man space Willaims may also be used in a trade depending on Woods' future (I think its still in the rotation) and how they feel about Hill
  11. Wow! i actually liked something written by Jay Mariotti! I feel so dirty. Im glad to see him respond to that stupid colum by scoop Jackson. After forcing myself to read that i now have absolutly no reslpect for ESPN for allowing that to be published. I almost feel that i may have gained a vary small amout of respect for Jay. I said small amount and almost.
  12. I think that we can pretty much give up on them DFAing Macias. As much as we all wish and want it to happen, we're stuck with him. When Nomar come back Ronny gets sent down, and Nomar starts about 4 games per week and gradually gets more playing time as he proves his health.
  13. Welcome to the forum. I agree that Dusty missuses Holly, but Holly would be a usefull PH and 4th OF under a competant manager, so we dont need to get rid of him as much as Dusty.
  14. Can Kearns actually play CF? I thought he was strictly a corner guy.
  15. Maybe im thinking of the wrong Texas OFer but I thought Dullucci was injured and possibly out for the year.
  16. So a "good" whip would probably be beloew 1 Correct?
  17. What is a good bench mark for WHIP? For example what is compariable to a 3.00 ERA or hitting .300?
  18. I would not give up Mitre and Williams with Wood potentially going back to the DL. to get Dunn I would think about it. We have Rush to start in the fo9r Wood (or Hill). If Wood's injury is long term then I may reconsider. But i think to get Dunn it may be worth it.
  19. I say see if they will take Mitre and Williams and keep Hill. I might be one who is over valuing Hill but i do think he will be good. Also I think that Williams is a better fit for Cincy. Also Im not sure why Cincy would want CPatt unless they intend to unload Griffy as well. They have Willy Mo, Griffy, and Kearns for an outfield, so what need does CPatt fill? My guess is they would want a big name position player like Dope plus someone that fits the ready to play now, although im not sure who that would be. Would be very interesting to know who did decide the original deal was too steep.
  20. you are absolutly right on this. He has pretty good form on his double leg, and had a very nice mid-level finish on Wilson (spear) but had a high level finish (body slam on his most recent. Also if he was going for free style he may have gotten 3 or more points for a more impressive take down. Sorry Im a former wrestler who likes to see wrestling in professional sports, too bad i have to find it on a ball diamond!
  21. Any one think that there is pressure from on high to play Murton?
  22. I actually like the idea of signing him back, but it has to be at a reduced rate, perhaps based on plate appearences like Wade said. This would be a to get rid of Nefi and have Ronny as the main back up and then if Nomar does go down again Ronny gets his chance.
  23. Its based on the players with the highest Home Run rates since last years all star game.
