  1. I actually like this trade rumor. Walker is gone no matter what. Whether you want him to stick around or not Hendry wants to deal him and that's that. I don't know much about the whole wife beating issue. To be honest I am not so sure others guys on the team do not do some "questionable" things off the field. The only bad thing here about giving up Walker is what if Cedeno can't hit a lick this season? He is a question mark even though everyone seems so high on him. Winter ball is one thing but MLB quite another. However, Lugo and Cedeno seems like a great duo defensively. I really like the idea of having Pierre and Lugo at the top of the order. If one or both can get on consistently that would be awesome. Walker can hit but he's not the best fielder and certainly can not run. Lugo can't hit as well as Walker but he does not seem to be a drastic drop off and can run and play defense. I think it may make the Cubs a little bit better defensively and maybe offensively as well. For a guy like Walker that is leaving it's not a bad deal IMO.
  2. Yeah, I would like to see Lugo thrown in there as well. Please.
  3. Looper will now become a superstar since he's with the Cardinals. It's a given.
  4. Well he can't be any worse than last year I suppose. Maybe we'll get luck and he snaps out of his funk? At least he can field. Yay.
  5. Sign Burnitz again if he did not have a plan. I thought we would at least be getting someone better than Burnitz since they did not opt to sign him. Which we may still get someone better but I'd rather have Burnitz in RF than Pattersion.
  6. Wow the White Sox eh? If they get Tejada it's time for repeat of their WS championship. Amazing.
  7. I don't know if it's realistic but right now I'd take Huff. Then maybe Dunn or Milton Bradley. Huff would be my number 1 picks I guess.
  8. Eh, instead of getting in involved with this circus I hope Hendry goes after a RF instead. If there is a chance at getting this Lugo or some other SS out there then do it. It sounds like that Baltimore situation is a bunch of drama those folks need to worry about. I just don't want Hendry sitting on his hands up to February on Tejada and they wind up keeping him in the end and we end up with Patterson in RF. You know ? :)
  9. Exactly. As cool as it would be to have Tejada on the Cubs it means getting lesser talent at RF and maybe not even getting an extra SP. But we don't know what Jim has in mind for the outfield either? I have not heard to much on the Huff, Lugo front lately. Other than forum member postings. Time will tell I guess.
  10. Oh boy Jones. Well that sounds more like a realistic Cub move there.
  11. Yeah, I hope we end up with someone better as a starter. Wood is not gonna be ready and Maddux will most likely fade this year IMO. Willis is avaialable Jim. Ha-ha!
  12. I wish we could get both Cabrera and Willis. But who knows what the Marlins would want for them? The top prospects, Walker, Wood and Prior and Zambrano might get it done. LOL!
  13. I could totally see Nomar playing 2b for the Yankees or Cardinals. If he signs with the Cardinals he will become the hitting champion again of course. I can see it now :)
  14. I was wondering where the Mets were getting all this money from. That explains it. Wow. Remember when everyone thought Beltran was such an idiot for picking the Mets? LOL! Not such a bad move now.
  15. I keep hearing how Wood is not going to be available for the beginning of 2006. I would be surprised if Philly would want Wood because of the injuries and how it sounds like he is not going to be ready. I would think Philly would go for something more solid than Wood. Especially since it's Abreu that may be traded. Now, if Wood is part of several players to be moved to Philly then maybe. I just can't see it happening. Philly would want the world for Abreu and Hendry does not like giving up the world for anyone. Of course the Pierre haters/Mitre/Nolansco lovers would disagree.
  16. Hope it's true. Mainly to get it behind us and go after a few more players as well via trades or free agent signings.
  17. My gut feeling is Wood will always be injured from this day forward. You know what I mean? I just don't think he's a guy that can come back an pitch a full year without getting injured at some point. Maddux is cool and all but his career is about over. I just hope he does not completely tank this season. Prior I can't tell what he will do. Zambrano is fine. So, yeah I hope Jim can muster up a new quality pitcher. Not saying Burnett but someone decent. We shall see.
  18. I don't know. It sounds like he is going to the highest bidder to me. Just like Beltran and countless others IMO. Oh well maybe Nomar will sign and actually stay healthy for more than 2 months next year. Maybe.
  19. Well I guess there goes Furcal. Hendry better start kissing Nomar's bum now.
  20. I don't know. I like Walker as a number 2 hitter but leadoff? He just does seem to be a guy that gets on base all that much for a leadoff hitter. Maybe I am wrong and someone will post some stats. I kind of like the leadoff hitter to have some better speed than Walker does. I can't imagin Walker getting on leadoff and stealing a base. I can with Furcal and Pierre. Thus setting up more chances to hit the leadoff man in. If he gets on base that is :)
  21. Hmmmm that is interesting....but the question would be which team?
  22. If Hendry makes a trade for someone to play LF Dusty will have to play that person. Unless he truly wants to be canned.
  23. I am just happy that it sounds like there will be an upgrade in LF. I really do not care who it is because just about anyone being rumored is an upgrade from what we have right now. I just hope something pans out.
  24. I sure hope we get somebody good in the outfield. Specifically for leftfield. Please oh please oh please. For some reason I think Washington is going to drop in that Wild Card race. Hopefully the Cubs can get someone to help boost the offense past everyone in the wildcard. If they don't make a trade I just don't see the offense carrying the Cubs past these team to be quite honest. It would be great to get some bullpen help. Specifically a setup guy but from where? I have no idea.
