  1. Well based on those Hendry comments it does not sound like the Cubs will be getting involved with anyone worth much at the trading deadline. Unless he actually trades away players currently on the roster. Or he actually pulls a trade for Patterson which would not get anyone that great. Oh well. Hopefully the team can make a run at the WC regardless.
  2. Part of the problem here is simply this. There are not a bunch of great ball players the Cubs can get at this moment. So, it's either stick with what the Cubs have now for offense and let it be for the rest of this season. Or you ship Hill off for someone that might make a lit bit better difference. Right now we basically get nothing offensively from the left field position. Kearns would probably help in that regard. But I don't know. I can't see it getting much better for the Cubs right now unless they get some more pop from left.

  4. I just hope Hendry does not resign Nomar for next year. Even when he was playing earlier he was not that good. Now he just gets injured all the time. Let Cedeno play there next year. He can't be any worse than Nomar.
  5. Yes, the Brewers, a team that is 1 1/2 games behind us right now in the division. I don't think you can use that as a reason to diminish Hill's potential. Don't get me wrong, I like Hill, I hope I'm wrong. But the fact is a lot of people here over-value our farm players and never want to give up any of them. If good deals (transactions for quality MLB talent) get done, good farm prospects have to be moved. The BREWERS are 29th out of 30 in MLB for batting average .255. .002 from being the WORST hitting team in the majors. Exactly. Sure it sucks to give up someone like Hill but this team needs some offense now. Kearns will hopefully do better. The Cubs have to do something and this would not be that bad IMO. As much as everyone would like to give up nothing for something it usually does not happen that way.

  7. Hell yeah! Plus it'd help out next year's team too! I think this year is almost hopeless. However, it could help for the beginning of next season. I do hope we get rid of Patterson and replace him with Kotsay. Yes, the LF situation needs to be addressed now. Please get Huff or someone better than Holly and DuBois. Let DuBois be a super star with some other team because it's not happening with the Cubs. To be honest I would get rid of Kerry Wood while he still has some value left in him.
  8. I don't really think Hendry will do anything to drastic despite what is happening.
  9. No, now the Trib will have to go back to the old ways of just bringing someone in that the masses will want to see. Maddux is still marketable in that regard. They won't trade him away. Or get rid of him or whatever.
  10. What is the freaking game plan here? We get more relievers to hold down teams next to nothing I guess since the offense can't score any longer?
  11. If the Cubs do get Kotsay I hope it's really, really soon. Like tomorrow. LOL! I mean something needs to be done really soon because the ship is sinking to fast...especially with Lee getting injured.
  12. I guess maybe I am impatient. However, this is my beef with the Cubs and Hendry. Supposedly we have all this super duper talent in the minors. Then by God start trading a few of them for some decent players to replace our mediocre ones such as Patterson. Sorry for the rant but it does get old IMO. It's not like this team is all that far away from really doing something in the postseason. Just add a few more pieces. It's not like this is a surprise to anyone.
  13. I we could somehow get Kotsay and Dunn without giving up one of the following starters Prior, Wood, or Zambrano. Then it might help. Personally I think we need both of those guys Kotsay and Dunn. Even then it may not make a difference because ultimately the Cubs choke in the end. Sorry to say it but they do. Or someone like Lee would get injured. You know the drill.
  14. I was just wondering. Is there anything actually going on rumorwise with Kotsay coming to the Cubs potentially? Or is that all just mainly wishful thinking? I don't remember any links or reports other than Kotsay being considered by the Yankees. Personally I would like to see BOTH Kotsay and Dunn with the Cubs. I can almost see the Cubs being quite competitive the rest of the way with them. I think they could actually pull off some deals for those 2. Especially Dunn.
