  1. This does not make me happy at all. Fortunately, what is said in the media or happens in ST doesn't mean a whole lot right now. At least not to me. If Hairston sees far more significant playing time than Walker, the team could be in some serious trouble. I'm sorry, but I'm just not a fan of Hairston's game.
  2. I really wish this whole Walker/Hairston/Perez for 2B fiasco would just disappear. If either of the 2 besides Walker is starting for any significant amount of time, I for one am going to livid. There should be no question as to which of the 3 should be starting IMO. I'm sorry, but I have no confidence in Hairston as full time starter when it comes to an offensive roll within the team and I don't think his defensive ability justifies him starting over Walker. In fact, I really don't think Hairston is all that great in general.
  3. agreed agreed count me in on this, too. Me three, but hey if they like 'em and it helps them play better then so be it. Heck they could wear buckets on their heads with the eyes cut out for all I care, as long as they win.
  4. From what I've read here and in the rags, I might be the only person in the world who could careless about Barry and his use of juice one way or the other.
  5. I said no, but honestly it would depend on my impression of the person and whether or not I was packing heat. I might also consider it if I had a truck. If I did, they would DEFINITELY be riding in the truck bed.
  6. =D> What an excellent point!
  7. I agree Davis has been acting selfish. The trouble is though------Hedrick is being just as selfish. Think about it, just for a second. The only way Hedrick wins 5 GOLD medals is to take the 1,000 meter. The only way he wins the 1,000 meter is by tiring Davis out. The only way he tires Davis out is by getting him to skate more events. Hedrick was never in the running for 5 Gold medals, unless Davis handed the 1,000 to him. So you're telling me Davis is selfish for not handing it to him? How about HEDRICK being selfish for wanting Davis to sacrifice his Olympic dream? Huh? It's a 2 way street. Unfortunately, in typical American media fashion, only one side is being reported. Hedrick is just as much of a self-centered prick as Davis. So why is he being treated like a hero and Davis like trash? That's completely unfair. Anyone who is honest with themselves must concede that much. Sorry, but I don't buy it. First of all, trying to justify Davis' selfishness by point out Hedrick's, whether true or not is a weak and ineffective argument. You don't justify bad behavior, by pointing out other bad behavior, especially when you have no proof of said action taking place. If a great Olympic athlete can't recover in time to compete two days later, then he's not the athlete he thinks he is. As for assigning alterior motives to Hedrick, by saying that he is trying to tire Davis out is a pretty large leap to make and a very entertaining theory. Maybe, but I don't think either of us have any idea what inside games are going on, if any. In an even race with nothing strange happening, your probably right about Hedrick not beating Davis in the 1000, but to say the "only" way for Hedrick to beat Davis in the 1000 is if Davis were to hand it to Hedrick is another assumption, although not quite as wild. Anything can happen, therefore, that is not the "only" way Hedrick could beat Davis. How would Davis be sacrificing his Olympic dream? Again I say if he can't recover in time he's not the Olympic athlete he thinks he is. Not only that, but Davis is competing in more than one event, thus allowing his Olympic dream to continue, even if he would have been beaten in the 1000. As for the media only reporting one side, Davis isn't doing himself any favors by not trying to cozy up to the media in an effort to clear up his public perception. If Davis is being treated like trash by media, maybe it has something to do with the way he acts. While I'm not a fan of the media most of the time, Davis could use them to his advantage too. I did see that ESPN's anchor were pretty forgiving of his attitude and congratulatory at the time he won his first gold and MSNBC was showing him some love today as well. I'm not so naive as to think that Hedrick's motives are purely for his country's success, but at least he seems to hide his supposed glory hogging attempts by tying them in with the US's success. With Davis not so much. He's seems to have a huge chip on his shoulder that is in dire need of being knocked off. I wasn't trying to justify Davis' selfishness by pointing out Hedrick's. I merely pointed out that both were acting like jerks, and only one was getting reamed for it. You're completely wrong when you say Hedrick is hiding his ulterior motives. Maybe you missed his comment the other day: "I mean, I'm the one with the Gold Medal so why are we talking about him?" How does his comment prove me wrong about his motives? If anything all it shows is that he is annoyed by such a stupid discussion about someone/something when he's just won a gold medal. I wonder why more athletes don't make comments like this. It happens in the PGA all the time if someone other than Tiger wins a tourney. Instead of talking the winner up, the first question usually has something to do with why Tiger didn't win the competition. His comment proves zero about his motives, real or perceived.

  9. From the tone I've seen here on the subject, I know this probably won't be popular, but I actually agree with most of what this guy says. http://www.thenewstribune.com/24hour/sports/olympic/story/3179493p-11888681c.html
  10. Say what you will about Sosa and I know everyone has there opinion on him and his supposed selfishness, but I don't think I've ever seen anything so blatantly selfishness, as what Shani did.
  11. Finally, a little perspective from someone in the media.
  12. The Zebras, except for the 75 yd run and the Randle El touchdown pass.
  13. Seems pretty obvious to me so far. Well maybe not obvious, but there have definitely been some questionable calls against Seattle.
  14. Let's go Seahawks!!!
  15. Well, part of the reason people don't care about the NBA is because Jordan isn't playing anymore. A significant number of ex-fans will tell you that. For me it's not even that Jordan himself isn't playing. I remember the days of Bird and Johnson and enjoyed those years, but Jordan made me a basketball fan. I'm still a Bulls fan and want to see them do well, but I just don't like all these young guys playing and making so much jack out of college or high school who have never accomplished anything at the pro level. Of the 2 sports, I'm definitely a baseball fan first and foremost. That being said I still wouldn't trade MJ for a Cubs WS title.
  16. I'll hope he does well, but I won't be on that wagon. Of course if he does well, I reserve the right to change my mind about getting on, but I really didn't like what I saw from him last year and don't expect much more from him this year regardless of what extra training he's been doing this offseason. I'm no stats guru and don't claim to be, but I don't like what I see happening at 2B so far, especially if it comes down to JHJ and Perez. If I had my druthers I'd just pencil in Walker, unless something better was out there to be had. And FWIW, I'm not sure I buy into all the talk of TW being a bad clubhouse guy. Along those same lines, I also don't let the pitching staff dictate how or who plays what position. Of course I'd listen to them and take what they say into consideration, but I'd also explain to them that with what's out there, Walker gives them the best chance to win.
  17. For me it depends on how you would define worst. If you mean it as it pertains to the team and season, then I would probably go with Nomar. If your talking embarassing, I'd probably go with the Barrett rundown. FWIW, I went with the latter. After thinking about it though, failing to cover first 3 times is pretty terrible too.
  18. Heck no! I'm a bitter Bears fan! Same here, I've never been one to get consolation from saying "well at least we lost to the Super Bowl champs"
  19. No
  20. What a gift!!! 2 obvious blocks in the back.
  21. Same here. Besides that and the fact that in my 30 years on this earth the Cubs have only come close a few times to even sniffing a WS I could stand to wait a few more years. Especially, since it would have been at the expense of watching the greatest BBall ever.
  22. She's not nearly as bad looking as some here would make her out to be. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that she probably looks pretty darn good when not wearing some mutant jersey and attending a football game. I'm sure most people here would kick her out of bed for eating crackers.
  23. No inferiority complex, just disgusted with the media lovefest w/ USC since '03 despite the FACT that LSU was the only true national champ. That LSU team would have beaten that USC team, IMO. There is no doubt in my mind. I would love to have seen that game played, but alas we'll never know. Georgia was the better team all year, so there was really nothing to expose. LSU is good team, but they had not a complete game all season. By the way, I'd love to see you have to eat your words. How do they taste so far?:P  Just kidding!!! One down, one to go. Although I can't stand either team, GEAUX Horns!!!
  24. that would be Nike. I dont know wtf theyre thinking either. The pass interference call, I could go either way on. The one that I thought was mindblowingly terrible was the "AD fumble at the goal line" where he was stopped, rolled completely over, and then had the ball stripped. No way he wasn't already down. Oh well, a win is a win is a win. Slight disagreement, Nike only makes the uni, I'm sure they're not in the business of telling college teams what uniforms to wear. Nike makes uniforms for lots of different schools and none of them look as awful as those. Actually Nike does determine what uniform they will wear. It is part of the contract, IIRC. Same thing with VT, and the hideous nike uniforms they had earlier this year. Must only be Oregons then, b/c I'm quite sure they have zero input on most other schools. That stuff would never fly down here. Nike makes LSU's as well as Bama's and others in the SEC and there hasn't been a uni change down here in years IIRC.
