  1. looked like Jones didn't appreciate it either.... it would have been nice for the struggling new guy in town that just hit the game winning homer to get to make the last out, but I guess Neifi had to save the game there.
  2. neifmeister is going to go deep here :D
  3. woah, I just realized that ESPN is not blacked out for me and I'm in Chicago... wierd.
  4. i'm guessing that he meant Duhon and Deng.
  5. Exactly. Maddux knew what they were doing. He knew they couldn't stop him on the field so they were trying the gamesmanship. I just don't think it is such a travesty like some of you do. I don't think it is bad sportsmanship, I don't think it is a "dick" thing to do, and I'm not just saying this because I'm a Cardinals fan. I think it's part of the game. I think it's insulting that he did it to GREG [expletive] MADDUX. Yeah maybe it's a part of the game if he did it to a young pitcher or someone with a slow fuse like Big Z. But there is nothing to gain from trying to raddle Maddux. All it does is delay the game, and maybe put some doubt in peoples minds that just heard about it the next day and all that was said was that Larussa thought that maybe Maddux was doctoring the ball. I feel proud that Maddux is able to still get the job done so well that hall of fame managers and Cy Young candidate fellow pitchers accuse him of cheating because he's still so good.
  6. I love Maddux but there is now way we should sign him, if he pitches well enough that signing him would be an option he'll be too expensive. I'd rather count on Prior being healthy for '07 than Maddux being anything but a decent #5 next year.
  7. hey I'll be IN Chicago and not be able to watch. I don't get WCIU, and of course ESPN will be blacked out.
  8. Agreed and also the reason I thought the Miller pickup was an excellent move. When Dempster was signed, didn't he pitch very late in the year after rehab? Yeah, he worked in relief for awhile... he walked the 2 guys before Latroy served up the 3 run homer to Victor Diaz during the collapse of '04.
  9. If that's the case, then why come up with the underarm discomfort? Just flat out say that Woody didn't feel like pitching after his buddy died. If anyone slams him for that, they have issues. Concocting an arm injury story only fans the flames. the cubs media relations are truly horrible if this rumor is true. Why does it matter to us if he didn't pitch because of either A) he didn't feel like it due to the death of someone important to him B) a minor discomfort not in his pitching arm Maybe Wood didn't want people to hear that he didn't want to pitch because he was to emotional, Wood is suppose to be this big bad major league pitcher. If the Cubs had just said that Wood didn't pitch for undisclosed reasons everyone would be like 'OMGZ HE'S INJURIED AGAIN THE SKY IS FALLING OH NOES, THE CUBS LIE!!!!! AHHHHH'. They say he has a minor discompfort in his underarm/side, that sounds like something a rehabbing pitcher would have. --- eh most of what I said has been covered while I was typing.
  10. that would be even more stupid than just having gooz start. why mess with guzman's schedule now that he's finally healthy? easy answer: this is the cubs.
  11. Hill hasn't been ruled out Someone should see if they can kind find numbers from the minors of Hill vs. the Marlins because Hill and most of the Marlins probably faced each other last year in AA.
  12. Damn !! That's up from $1.39 last year !! that's due to his team saving heroics down the stretch last year :D
  13. Will Carrol says that NSBB is hiding your true injury.
  14. that's a dangerous thing to do with our pitchers :(
  15. That seemed very fishy to me, didn't really look like a cramp when you're grabbing at the knee.
  16. While it would be great to win, I don't think we should be upset here. Yes, it was a very winable game, but the way I see it we can't have any expectation here. I see this game as mostly encouraging this team is set up for next year and staying close to the superior team like this will only help out. How many GMs would you trust with the 2 drafts pick we have and the money we have to spend? In Pax I trust.
  17. noc is the heart and soul
  18. oh no here comes wade :(
