  2. turns out it took so long between reported signing to official because they found out he had freaking mono. saved the Ricketts some money so it all ended well
  3. here's runners on new Carl [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. 2 singles and no walks for Carl with 2K including da seal
  5. I think it would be much better if it was 3 batters or end of inning. this might speed up the DH, because there will probably be a rise in relievers taking at bats
  6. Michael Reinsdorf interview https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/ct-spt-bulls-michael-reinsdorf-interview-20190304-story.html My favorite part is where he can't understand the GarPax nickname

  10. new theory: they are keeping Russell around to make Bryant feel better about his hair line
  11. lol what a horsefeathers way for that to end edit - never mind I thought they'd get free throws.... to 4OT we go Boylan knew this was coming this was why he ran them into the ground when he started.
  12. I guess I'll post this here too [tweet] [/tweet]
  13. 3.0 IP, 3H, 3K, 0BB all praise to Jesse Chavez
  14. Chatwood as shutdown multi-inning reliever is something in reality I know isn't going to happen, but yet I'm convincing myself that it might.
  15. remember when this thread was about pizza?
  16. Unless he falls of a cliff or the reliever market completely 180s, I have a feeling Strop is signed back.
  17. Financials on the buyback of the last 5% from the Tribune came out today. At the Rickett's purchase price (845 million for 95%) 5% was worth 44.5 million. (unless I screwed up the math which is very possible and I already did on my first try)
  18. I wonder, in an alternate universe where the Cubs "had the money" would they have gone 13 years? (which is a number it appears he was unwilling to go under)
  19. That's a good point I didn't think about, he's been asked about his free agency since he was high school so I can see the appeal of never being asked about it again.
  20. Yeah it's such a weird demand. I understand wanting to be with 1 team the rest of your career, but to refuse security and leverage or even let your agent discuss it doesn't make sense. On top of that, hasn't pretty much every single big time contract with an opt out either not been used or the player signs back with the same team anyways?
  21. weird, the Cubs are not even mentioned in this Verducci article that details the entire process of signing Harper https://www.si.com/mlb/2019/03/01/bryce-harper-philadelphia-phillies-contract-scott-boras
