Is there really a viewership benefit to having a day and night game? Is there really more people that would and will be able to watch both games as opposed to putting them both at night either head to head or partially head to head? I would have to imagine the ratings for a Cubs game at 7pm against Royals/Jays would be higher than Cubs game at 2:30. Conversely Royals/Jays game at 7pm against Cubs game is probably higher rated than Royals/Jays game at 2:30. I guess the rights were probably sold with the understanding their would be no head to heads but it's just dumb.
Facebook's on this day feature brings back this great article from 2 years ago today http://deadspin.com/why-dont-the-st-louis-cardinals-respect-the-game-1445679050
Well he started with this. [tweet]https://twitter.com/LenKasper/status/654439399359447040[/tweet] I'm assuming he got crap in his mentions or he was just preemptively defending his sentiment.
I was also thinking about splitting up Hendricks & Hammel... it's also would help to have them pitch in either away park than Wrigley. I just don't think there any way you don't put your completely rested aces 1 and 2. Unpopular sentiment probably but I think Haren could possibly be a better option than Hammel at this point also.
Won't either the Dodgers or the Mets have a better starting pitcher going for them in Game 2 than in Game 1? With the Dodgers probably having to outside of their big 2 for game 1, unless they go Kershaw on short rest again?
