I was in Wrigleyville over the weekend and it really hit me what a monster Ricketts has created that is going to be needed to be continually fed with people. While there is much there that can be Cubs independent and the Cubs are a tourist attraction in themselves so their floor attendance is going to be higher than the average team I still get the impression that a bad team would be a nightmare financially. I guess all that is to say - sign Harper.
https://deadspin.com/it-only-took-four-bears-to-make-jared-goff-look-like-a-1830993041 The videos in the post are near porn level. I loved in the last one after Prince gets the pick, Jackson goes right into lead blocker mode and signals for Prince to follow him.
Harper is going to be just like Yu. Rumors he was going all over the place, nobody (but the Cat) said the Cubs were in on it and then in the end the Cubs get it done.
I was in Sports World over the weekend doing some Christmas shopping and I overheard this from a guy 50s-ish with Yankees hat on, to an employee, "Now Addison Street, that's not for Addison Russell is it?"
what's really weird is that people have quote tweeted it and I can still click on the individual tweet and see it, but it isn't showing up in his feed. So maybe some sort of glitch and not really deleted. nevermind, it's gone that way now too
[tweet]https://twitter.com/georgeofman/status/1072143914004561920[/tweet] Boras trying to get more money out of the Cubs by saying the White Sox are a threat edit: was a tweet from George Ofman that Harper was warming to the idea of signing with the White Sox, it was up for 2 hours and as soon as I post it here it's deleted. There are eyes on NSB!
I don't think the return will be interesting enough for a 38 year old that will need to work a catchers schedule (at most) to be effective. Unless they are at a a charging players for the vending machine level of having no money.
