  1. I have a feeling one of either Murton or Cedeno will be moved in this trade. Beinfest is a very good GM. They will want someone who is ML ready. I will listen to updates on the local sports radio down here in S. FL. I'll let you know if I here anything different.
  2. Who cares? He can take his, does only one thing good, to lowly KC. If it helps the Cubs I'm all for it. Depending on the prospect I like this deal. McDougal,Weurtz & Williamson setting up Dempster, that's a solid, & deep pen. Get er done, Jim!
  3. I feel that way myself, to be honest. How about both? Cedeno is clearly equal if NOT better then Nefti with the Glove, either at SS or 2B, and his bat--still questionable---is better then Nefti. I believe Furcal/Cedeno would have a higher value then Walker/Cedeno. In all due respect, Cedeno is still an unproven major league ball player. It's not fair to compare Neifi/Cedeno, when Cedeno's sample size is so small. Maybe that's your opinion, but it's not proven to be accurate yet. I tend to agree, Cedeno, has a chance to better than Neifi in those areas. However, it's still only a prediction of what Cedeno's production will be.
  4. That would be good I could see Beinfest being interested in Wellemeyer,Mitre & Hill. Not sure it would take all of them to get Pierre, but 2 of them, maybe.
  5. Philly Inquirer If that's all it's going to cost to get Abreu Hendry better be all over this. I've read that Toronto has no interest in moving V.Wells.
  6. edgar renteria got $40M / 4 years. Well, as long as he doesn't put up Renteria numbers, I'm "ok" with that number. Although if we're giving $10m per to Furcal, I'd also like to see us offer it to Giles. I think it will be either/or not both.
  7. Here's an article from Reds.com about their off-season: http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20051108&content_id=1266140&vkey=news_cin&fext=.jsp&c_id=cin
  8. He better lock Pierre up long term without Pie waiting in the wings. BTW can Dunn play RF? I thought he was not defensively gifted? I've heard Dunn is defenisvely challenged and I agree that Hendry would lock up Pierre long term first. Maybe Murton would be one of the players used in the trade for Dunn? Dunn is a horrible defender, however he is a offensive monster. I doubt the Cubs obtain him, but I believe JH is leaving as many options open as possible as all GM's should.
  9. a truly fantastic signature & as realistic as it gets.
  10. I think Hendry is going after both Furcal & Pierre, just in case one of them doesn't pan out. Acquiring a lead-off man is a priority for him & if he does land both, it could still work out.
  11. Colorado is not what it use to be. They do something to the balls to deaden them a little ( I can't remember the name of the device used). FYI, The Cell is very much a hitters park, I wouldn't expect Rowands numbers to increase that much. Don't they keep the baseballs in a humidifier? I could have sworn I read that. Maybe that's what they call it.
  12. Believe it or not CPatterson's ceiling might even be higher than Pierre's. Maybe so, but CPatt's had years of showing he can't tap into his potential. I'm guessing most teams aren't interested in Patterson's ceiling as much as they are resigned to the idea he will never reach it. I agree, we did see some of CPatt's potential in the beginning of the 03' season until his injury. His problem is more mental & lack of ability or desire to make adjustments when @ the plate. However, he is a GG caliber CF.

  15. I think Pettitte's overall numbers were right there,also.
  16. Proving that voters feel W-L is the most important pitching stat. This award is a complete joke. Willis should have won it hands down. "I don't think Willis will or should win it b/c of his double digit losses" Dan Patrick
  17. Hopefully, it takes the Cards out of the Giles sweepstakes.
  18. The funny thing is that if CPatt was a FA & the Cubs signed him to a 2 yr 5 mil. contract, most people who have complained about the Neifi signing in this thread, would be very happy. The fact is Corey Patterson was much more of a liability to the Cubs possible success in 05'. Those people have favorites & ones they don't like no matter what they do on the field. It's childish & unknowledgable. Also, most of the complaining is pure speculation to begin with. No one on this board knows what JH is going to do the rest of the off-season. Rational people understand this & will @ least give JH the benefit of the doubt & see what the final product is opening day. I remain optimistic & really feel there will be some big moves by many teams including the Cubs this off-season. I guess I'm in the minority & I'm OK with that.
  19. Murton whom JH did trade for. Oh never mind! Sorry, boys! I didn't mean to ruin the pessimist party.
  20. 162 games & you don't expect someone on the 25 man roster to get any starts?
