  1. I go to work an hour later today, at 4 instead of 3. So hopefully this game is over in regulation and the Cubs win.
  2. Light breeze blowing in, I think.
  3. I have a feeling this race is going to go down to the very last day of the regular season.
  4. Just win, baby. I really, really want to believe. I want to be optimistic. But I can't. I just can't do it. :( Actually, I should say that I won't. I won't let myself, because than it will hurt so much if they don't make it.
  5. Dont you think he's due? >_> Zach Duke is not Roy Oswalt's wife. I don't think.
  6. I'll give them credit. They're not going to roll over and die. They'll be a thorn in our side probably until the last day of the regular season.
  7. What did he do? ESPN Gamecast is slow and the wife is watching "Young and the Restless" on DVR.
  8. Already posted. As for the bolded...I'd risk it. I know that Cuban will take the right approach to building a team. He's a stats oriented guy and a very forward thinker. If he sees it fit to tear down Wrigley at some point in the near future (which I doubt he would), so be it. I care far more about the on field product than anything else. As do I. Winning comes first. But can you imagine going to a Cubs game without that Wrigleyville atmosphere? The outside vendors, Waveland Avenue, etc? Even if the Cubs have to play "on the road" for a year while Wrigley is renovated, I'd be ok with that. Of course I want a World Series Championship. But it just wouldn't be the same without Wrigley.
  9. D'oh! Oh well. Mods, feel free to lock/merge/delete/whatever.
  10. This is on the front page of ESPN.com right now. This guy sounds pretty good. He's committed to winning AND to preserving Wrigley. I like Cuban, but has he come out on the long-term future of Wrigley yet? Anyway, here's the article: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3029964
  11. Son of a..... If he'd be pitching in long relief if the game is decided, sure. If he's starting, Lou needs a kick in the butt. If things keep going like they are going, Thursday might not be all that important. You can't hang your hat on that, though. We don't have anything won yet.

  13. Note that the Cubs didn't give up more than 3 runs in any of those games. Probably the most important thing those games have in common. Hey Brewers, you don't want to lose the division? Don't go below .500 two straight months is a great way to start. And don't blow 13 three-run-plus leads to lose the game. No sympathy from here. Someone needs to tell Brewer fan that talent alone doesn't win championships. It's also about heart and character. And grit. Don't forget grit.
  14. God dammit, Marquis. Throw strikes. Don't fold under the pressure. 1 1/2 games is nowhere near a safe lead.
  15. I haven't heard about this. Are there any links? Any cities which seem the most likely? I agree they need to get the hell out of Tampa, though. They'll never even sniff .500 in that place.
  16. as long as they don't reintroduce the blue alternates next year, i'll be happy I loved those! I know I'm in the minority but I wouldn't be sad to see those come back at all.
  17. Don't get excited. Remember, this is the Cubs.
  18. Beat the Pirates. Don't pretend they're the '27 Yankees like the Cubs do against the Reds.
  19. FIRST PLACE IS OURS AGAIN!!! Oh, happy day.
  20. I think you're in the vast majority. I don't care what anyone says. A game like this provides far more drama and suspense than anything Hollywood can produce.
