  1. our GM signs free swingers and our minor league coaches don't preach plate discipline It's called hitting, not walking.
  2. He has playoff experience from when he was with the Yankees, doesn't he? Why the hell is he anxious?
  3. Lilly: Remove your head from your butthole. Thanks.
  4. Left-hander throwing slow junk....yeah, we're toast Going home 0-2. Walking the leadoff man always works so well.
  5. Davis is going to be brilliant tonight. If he keeps throwing that curve to Rodrigo he'll change it every time.
  6. I'll never understand why some ballplayers are so obtuse that they don't adjust to the particular pitching style they are facing that day. Are they just not intelligent? They must not be. A normal person would think "Hrmm, every time I try to pull that outside pitch, I make an easy out. I should quit doing that." A major leaguer thinks "Hrmmm.... I should just keep doing this. I'll be able to pull it eventually!" Whatever happened to just hitting the ball hard and not trying to place it?
  7. Yes. I predict much profanity in this thread tonight.
  8. I hope Soriano has a better game. Ugh, he couldn't be much worse than he was at the plate. And Rodrigo Ramirez is going to break out tonight.
  9. We're in big trouble if we don't win tonight. I see this like the Florida series. We lost the first game "Oh, no biggie. We'll win tomorrow." We lost the second game "OMG DOOM AND GLOOM".... It'll be doom and gloom for our boys if we go home down 0-2.
  10. Hows this Lou's fault? The offense could not score to save their life. 84 pitches for your star pitcher in a tie game? Lou had a big part in this mess. But come on... Did you really expect Marmol to give up anything? It's really easy to second guess. The biggest mistake he made was not bunting with Z with the runner on 2B and no outs. I'll admit I didn't expect Marmol to suck. But there is no reason, NONE, that Z couldn't have at least started the inning with Marmol ready in the pen in case he got into trouble.
  11. That means nothing. How many suckass lefties have the Cubs looked like crap against this year? A dozen? Maybe more?
  12. Hows this Lou's fault? The offense could not score to save their life. Lou takes out Z who was cruising after 85 pitches. Dbacks score two runs off the reliever, who, yes, was our best one, but still takes the loss. Does nobody see the stupidity in taking out your pitcher when he's dominating and thrown well less than 100 pitches, saving him for a game that may not even be played?? Anyone??
  13. Soriano, I will commit any act short of murder if you homer here. ANY act.
  14. Down to our last out. Now we have to take our chances with the junkballing lefty tomorrow, and we've hit those SO well this year. If the Cubs win this game I'll eat that 2-week old chicken in the fridge.
  15. I cautiously share your optimism. We've got to win tomorrow though. Don't want to be down 2-0 Agreed. If the Cubs lose tomorrow, then I'll be worried. But I'm not right now. Still, nothing is a given. It would have been nice to win tonight with their starter going and then have the upper hand going into tomorrow. Instead, we're facing a junkballing lefty down 1-0 and needing to win.
  16. Lou pulling Z had nothing to do with those hard hit balls and you know it. If Z stays in this game could still very well be tied. And if he had pinch hit for Zambrano in the top of the sixth, it might be 5-3. Who knows. It was a reasonable, if not great, move to put in the best reliever on the team. IF the starter is starting to lose it, yes, then it's a good move.
  17. Lou pulling Z had nothing to do with those hard hit balls and you know it. If Z stays in this game could still very well be tied.
  18. Game 4 is not a given. Not saying Z wouldn't have given up those runs, but you had to at least trot him out there to start the inning.
