  1. Tell your boss to chill the hell out. listen to this dude, he knows all about spazzing out on the internet Pot, meet kettle. Oh, hey, you used punctuation in your last post. You're improving, my man!
  2. Tell your boss to chill the hell out. If he's going to post on the internet, people are going to ask questions. It's human nature. If he doesn't like it, he can take his little website off of the net. He didn't post anything on the internet. He sent me an email. How about this, if it comes true, you all can kiss my ass. if it doesn't, i will never quote my boss again. deal? Hear that, everyone? We're bad people for questioning some guy on the internet! We should believe everything we read, like Peavy will become a Cub, JFK was offed by the mob, and 9-11 was an inside job! It's on the internet! It must be true!

  4. Yes, just like all signs were pointing to Roberts becoming a Cub last year. One heavily reported and discussed rumor was wrong so now they all must be! I'm just saying not to believe anything at all until you actually see it with your own eyes. Once you see Peavy holding up a Cubs jersey at a press conference with Jim Hendry and Lou Piniella by his side, then believe he's going to be a Cub. Not until.

  6. A couple of thoughts about this statement: 1: If a deal is done then why wait on the announcement? I know if I had acquire a top 5 pitcher in baseball, I would announced it to my team's fanbase as soon as possibile. So this statment is bullcrap. 2: I read Donnie's story, and he never said a "deal is done" all he reported was where Peavy would like to go, and the chances of him being trading. So this blog is taking liberties with Donnie story. But hey we are less then 15 pages to 100, we needed something to get us there...So let's reach 100 before the night is over, guys. lol the joker from the cub reporter linked to this post and trashed you. hey rob g, your site is a joke. thanks for playng. I know I just saw that, and boy was he defensive. How dare you question some guy on the internet? For shame!
  7. I guess I'll just agree to disagree. That said, Wood was supposedly willing to take that risk to sign with the Cubs for 1 year. To put himself in position to make a multiyear deal possible. Lets use our brains for thinking, folks. Who cares if he'd sign for one year to set himself up for a multi-year deal? We'd still have him next year. The window of opportunity isn't getting any bigger.
  8. RJ would make a decent 5th starter for the right price. I hope if the Yanks sign CC we can get whichever of Burnett or Lowe they don't sign.
  9. Now that's a pretty good idea. He probably wouldn't go for it, though.
  10. Neither are mediocre relievers who can't throw strikes and have bloated salaries Kevin Gregg is virtually Farnsworth's twin when the Cubs got rid of him, maybe a little worse. http://www.fangraphs.com/comparison.aspx?playerid=278&playerid2=1793&playerid3=&position=P&page=2&type=full Gregg is a meathead who falls in love with his slider to the point where he has to throw a fastball, which the hitter sits on and crushes?
  11. Filing for free agency doesn't mean he wasn't willing to come back here. He's allowed to at least keep his options open as a fallback just in case. Filing for free agency doesn't mean he HAD to negotiate with anyone but the Cubs. It was just that the option was there for him in case the Cubs didn't want him.
  12. You forgot to add that Wood signs a 1 year deal. And that Greene isn't included because he sucks.
  13. Thanks man. Hope Peavy is in Wrigley to start the season.
  14. He didn't use him poorly...he just overused him Marmol in the closer role almost seems like a waste lou used him poorly ... some of the time if marmol makes 50 appearances or whatever as a closer, that will be misusing him all of the time Well thats just wrong. Using someone as a closer is pretty much by definition using him really well some of the time and poorly some of the time. yeah, you're right. I shouldn't have said all the time. I was just saying that odds are using Marmol strictly as a closer will lead to more misuse than if he's left in his fireman role. Surprisingly, over the course of the year he might be used better. He might not be brought in during mop-up duty quite so often when we're up or down 8 runs.
  15. He better be, with the way Hendry f'ed up with Kerry Wood.
  16. I actually did. Monday night was a great night for me. Just before I came back and went to the casino here in our resort, we had went to another resort because my wife wanted to go to a Japanese Steakhouse there. We stopped in their casino on the way out and played Caribbean Stud for about an hour. I hit a straight flush which pays 10% of the progressive jackpot. I won a little over $6900. Did Peavy say anything about what the Cubs possible offer is?
  17. That saves number alone is going to drive his price way up on the open market. By doing this, Hendry is also making Marmol too pricey for the Cubs someday.
  18. This is all ridiculous. All of it. Thanks. It's nice to know I have fans. If you're a Hendry fan, please tell me why he deserves to stay. For F's sake, I've been ripping him a new one over this all thread. To qualify a statement with "besides those 4 good to incredible trades he pulled off this guy sucks. Oh and he probably got lucky on the incredible ones. Joe Gariagiola won a world series under similar circumstances to Hendry(bloated payroll allowing him to outspend his competitiors) and he was functionally [expletive]. To say the Cubs can't win with Hendry and engage in the hyperbole you did in your rant draws attention away from the awful move at hand and creates a nice little straw man to beat up on regarding Hendry. Hendry has still done this team more harm than good.
  19. What does he have to gain by lying? He won't be back no matter what. I would imagine that leaving a favorable impression behind on the town that loved him for 10 years has some worth to him. I don't think that if he wanted to sign a multi-year deal and the Cubs just couldn't afford it, that anyone would hold anything against him for seeking employment elsewhere. He's been loyal to this team through and through, even signing for below market value here just to "prove himself" and because he felt he owed us something. Not many athletes would do that.
  20. This is all ridiculous. All of it. Thanks. It's nice to know I have fans. If you're a Hendry fan, please tell me why he deserves to stay.
  21. What does he have to gain by lying? He won't be back no matter what.
  22. This tears it. The Harden, Lee, Aram, and Nomar deals aside, Hendry is terrible. Aram and Lee fell into his lap, and he probably got lucky on Harden and Nomar. He needs to go, and he needs to go NOW. The Cubs will not win anything with this fat sack of crap at the helm.
  23. For one year, though? He could have been cut loose if he had another elbow or shoulder issue next season. We wouldn't be a lesser team in any way with one year of Kerry Wood next year. We'd still have enough to address the offense.
  24. Bruce, if you're here, I beg you to PLEASE at least mention this in an upcoming column. This needs to be addressed, and someone has to hold Hendry accountable here.
