  1. I think Marshall just got more runs than he has in his last 10 starts combined.
  2. I imagine watching a low-A lefty hitter swinging from his heels and hoping is a lot like watching Jones hit.
  3. Who are you and when did you replace Mike Quade?
  4. The only good trades I can think of with Hendry are when he was a buyer - DLee and Ramirez. With Patterson and Sosa, he waited too long and got next to nothing for them. With Maddux, he just got next to nothing. Zambrano has high value, but there might really be something wrong with his arm. If he has a decent couple of starts and looks healthy, he could return almost any prospect, though the list of teams that'll be adding that kind of contract are small. I suppose others could do a Houston/Randy Johnson type rental if we ponied up some of the salary. Barrett's value is as low as it's been since he's been with the Cubs. You could probably say the same thing about Carlos, other than his first season. So, they're both going to bring back as little as they possibly could. That seems to be the time when Hendry makes his moves. We'll get 3 AAAA second basemen and 2 AAAA left fielders - all of whom hit right-handed.
  5. The Pirates don't know who they're dealing with. We blew right past them. We aren't human. We don't feel pain. We can't be reasoned with. These beeches are going down. Er, I mean "going up".
  6. I'd like to throw out a humble 'thank you' to Raisin, OO, and everyone else who starts and maintains these threads. They're a great summary of each day's action. I always check them when I visit.
  7. The Pirates clearly don't have their heart in the race yet. They took 3 of 4 from co-competitor Cincy this weekend. Shameful display by the Bucs.
  8. Pagan's OPS: .906 Jones' OPS: .640 Zambrano's OPS: .667 Cool that Jones is starting. According to the ESPN preview, we've got a 58% chance of winning, and Aramis and Soriano have 26.9 and 24% chances of hitting homers, respectively. It's that .9% that matters for ARam. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/preview?gameId=270528116
  9. The Sox are on WGN. I'm lamenting my realization of that suckage. :)
  10. Yep. Game is on CSN today. Shoot. I guess I'm watching the Braves/Brewers on TV and tracking the Cubs online. I can't have a broadcast with Hawk on in my house, even on mute.
  11. not on the road I've watched too much ESPN. Any homer is a walk off.
  12. Theriot can walk off after striking out, right?
  13. Ok, let's call up Iowa for a week and send these guys to Des Moines.
  14. If we were in Wrigley, they would've hit 3 balls out that inning instead of 1.
  15. You are the wind beneath my wings. :) My early money is on the Rangers. I want to give the Pirates and Reds some love, but the rest of the NL Central needs too cool off their sub-.500 dominance and give those guys a shot at the first pick.
  16. Let's all try to hit homers to left on sinkers.
  17. As Steve Stone would say, a leadoff walk scores 75% of the time. Except when the next guy pounds a sinker at SS. 6-4-3.
  18. If peeing your pants is cool, consider me Miles Davis. Some Kind of Yellow.
