  1. Because of Barrett's defense, or lack thereof. Also, Blanco has come on strong lately with the bat. Barrett's OPS is over .800, which is 4th among starting catchers in MLB. He should be starting, period. Just like Macias "should be starting [in CF], period" because he's hitting .290 or over? Yes, good job misunderstanding. Macias is at .671 right now, just a smidge better than your man Blanco.

  3. If we sign him for 2006, I think it's time to give up and just be a full time A's fan. I think we're going to go to one of the games against the angels. \:D/
  4. A's have been my second team for a while. Maybe they should just be my first team... :-k
  5. Well, changing the title worked on me. DUNN, PLEASE.
  6. I wouldn't be greedy, just one of them is fine by me.
  7. Wilkerson for Perez would work out well. That's what I'm thinking.
  8. I love it - worth every penny. I don't have cable TV, but get to watch any game but the national blackouts. Also, you can flip between games pretty easily if you're bored and get broadcasts of almost any game. I've got DSL at home and the stream is fine (my work T1 is even better!). The picture is very clear if you open it in the normal window size (I prefer Real Player, but Windows Media Player is fine). The picture starts to lose clarity quickly if you start moving to a 2x picture. That said, I've watched a few games in full screen, but you're definately looking at a so-so picture. Even then, it's still o.k. In fact, I've checked out the projection capabilities in a lecture hall and would have been glad to watch a few games on the big screen! I'll second that...the t-1 here at work is much much smother than my cable modem at home....of course a lot of times at home I'm playing poker and in a game thread, while also having the game on...I think that explains a lot of the times of my picture freezing. Yeah, you do want to limit your bandwidth as it will degrade your connection. Full screen mode on the PC is not as clear (blocky/pixelated), but as I said before, try transferring the feed to your TV.. makes a big difference! I think I may do that for next season...I use MLB Radio, because most of the games are while I am at work.
  9. Will Carroll commented on wood today: "... we now know that Kerry Wood is dealing with more than a simple muscle strain or even a more serious tear. The dreaded word has been spoken: "labrum." It appears that Wood has a frayed labrum, the least serious of all labrum injuries. It's unclear whether Wood will need off-season surgery, but even that would be more along the lines of what Matt Morris went through than something like Chris Carpenter....Once again, Wood will need to focus on mechanics or the Cubs will have to take the idea of Wood as closer a bit more seriously. In the short term, the cortisone injection is working its way through the joint space and the results thus far have been neutral. Wood will miss his next start, replaced by curveballer Rich Hill in a showcase outing, and a DL decision will be made later this week..."
  10. Hey, does anyone think Dunn would start if we traded for him? Holly has been paying his dues...
  11. That might be a slight overstatement. OBP is much more valuable, but a hit is always better than a walk. I'd rather that people just stopped using BA as a key stat. Agreed. If he can get on base, thats all that matters. Yea, a hit is better than a walk sometiimes, but getting on base is better than not getting on base at all. I'd still rather have a guy bat .320 with a .360 obp than a guy bat .230 with a .400 obp. Some of you overvalue the walk a little too much. I'll take a single over a walk with a man on second and two outs every time. I'll take a walk over a ground out or pop out.

  13. He's 25. He has a career OPS of .900. What else do you want? He is one of the elite offensive performers in the game. BA is not important.
  14. I agree. Before I entered the thread, I knew someone would mention the astros uniforms, I love those striped jerseys. I also love the orange hat with the star. I like pretty much all of the retro jerseys. I hate the Dbacks uniforms and pretty much any teams with black uniforms.
  15. Hoops, are you felling the pressure to come up with the big scoop this season? Trot is a good player, I wouldn't mind having him in the OF. He's 31, so it's good that he doesn't have a long deal.
  16. Dunn gets on base much much more than Dawson did. Dawson had a career .323 OBP. Dunn is at .382 for his Career.
  17. I really enjoyed the Corvette ads during the post game too. Yes, I'm sure that Miguel Tejada, who makes upwards of $10 million a year is pooping in his pants about getting a free corvette.
  18. Theo for GM! I'd love to have a 'moneyball' guy as GM. http://67.18.37.15/2298/12/emo/drool.gif That would be fantastic.
  19. Earl Weaver.
  20. I want Cedeno to start at SS until he proves that he can't handle it.
  21. Hey, at least Brenly>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Joe Carter.
