  1. just checked the last two pages and am shocked I didn't see anything about attempting to steal on Molina. just put the damn red light on for the entire series.
  2. now I know that 'anything can happen' but some coaches should really be ashamed of themselves. Spurrier, Carroll, Meyer, even JoPa I have noticed so far. keeping starters in AND throwing long passes on first and second down with the game no longer in doubt. Wisconsin was tied with a 1AA team at half time today. while they didn't have the ball much of the fourth, PJ Hill didn't touch the ball the last 13:30 of the game. they threw one pass the last 13:00 of the game, on 3rd and 8. most of the starting D didn't play the final two drives, although they did come in for one play, to try to stop a fourth and goal from the 1. I know alot of people will disagree and have more a 'dagger in the heart' mentality. I guess I just believe is sportsmanship, and pulling your starters when the game is in hand is both the noble and smart (because the backups get some play) thing to do.
  3. Who has been counting on Guzman, either within the organization or amongst the fans? This. Reminiscent of the people saying we need to cut Prior and Wood now just because it'll make themselves feel better. Gooz is costing us nothing and it's not like anyone's writing him into a rotation spot then panicking when he turns up injured. He's just another one of those guys who's a bonus if he gives us anything, it's not a big deal. Exactly. no. unless he is a reliever and there are tons of relief options available, you can't count on him to be a key member of the bullpen. you also can't go into a season expecting this guy to be a starting pitcher and counting on a minor leaguer to replace him come the inevitable injury. yes, anything he gives us will be gravy, but unless the pitching staff is completely stacked, you can't put him on the 25 man roster. the lesson that should have been learned long ago is to not count on a chronically injured pitcher to be a key member of your staff. either he's the best sixth man out of the pen in baseball, or I don't want him on the team.
  4. I just care that people call a spade a spade. conventionally wisdom regarding college football sucks when it comes to judging teams, but it is generally pretty accurate in regard to the power of each conference's rankings. the shake up of the ACC/BE seemed to shift the balance of power in college football, but with the rise in the Louisville/Rutgers programs coinciding with the drop off by Miami and FSU, the end result was that things haven't changed. year in, year out, the best conferences in football are: 1. SEC 2a. Big10 2b. Pac 10 3. Big 12 4a. BE 4b. ACC where "a" and "b" means it could go either way from year to year. some times there is a little shift amongst these conferences, but it does not change dramatically from year to year, ie. the Big 12 has seasons where they get up to 2a, particularly in those years that Texas or Oklahoma are dominant. but it also has seasons where they are 4a due to those teams being the only decent teams in the conference. last year, the BE had a legit argument at 2c. but we have two completely illegitimate arguments that persist here. the first is that the conferences stack up like this 1. SEC 2. SEC 3. SEC 4. SEC 5a whatever 5b whatever 5c whatever 5d whatever 5e whatever and the second is this 1. SEC 2a. BE 2b. Pac 10 3a. ACC 3b. Big 12 3c. Big 10 waaaaaaaay too much time is spent arguing this sillyness. go ahead and say that the Big Ten is down to 3a. go ahead and argue the Big 12 is 2b. scream to the world that BE is 2c. but for crying out loud, quite with the absurd claims that either of these two scenerios have any legitimacy.
  5. c'mon guys. noone doubts that the SEC is the best conference, but you're really putting perfume on a big turd of a day. Arkansas loses to a fairly ordinary Alabama squad Tennessee gets crushed by Florida Auburn loses to Mississippi state the only two teams from 16-25 that lost are SEC teams. if the pollsters find a way to vault both Alabama and Kentucky into the top 25, over several other teams that also won today, and without dropping either of the two SEC teams out, thus resulting in seven SEC teams in the top 25, it would be an absolute joke. Do you realize the irony that all SEC losses came to other SEC schools? is that Alanis Morisette irony? do you see the "irony" in one of those losses being by 30 points? how about the other coming to perennial dormat MSU? Hey jjgman21 - I've been out all day, how did the Iowa Hawkeyes do against Cupcake State? better than Auburn v. perennial dormat MSU and about as well as the Hogs against a "6-7" team. but you seem to be mistaking me for a big Iowa defender.
  6. besides Tennessee, who do you bump to get both Alabama and Kentucky into the top 25? Clemson won their game fairly easily. BC is about to beat a higher ranked team. Hawaii will probably rack it up against UNLV. Oregon and A&M rolled. does GT get dropped down farther than Arkansas for some reason. the sense of entitlement is sickening. like I said, if it happens it will be an absolute joke. South Carolina has no business in the top 25 in the first place. Entitlement? Um, yeah, whatever. South Carolina got way too much credit for beating Georgia, sure. I wouldn't say they're any more overrated than Virginia Tech. yes, entitlement. there's a way that these things generally work, ie. teams don't get dropped down if they don't lose. yet to you it's unimaginable that the two teams that actually lost be the teams that drop out, to make room for another team in the conference to leap frog a bunch of teams that didn't lose. Virginia Tech. good example there. even with the baggage that team is carrying, SC couldn't carry their jocks, regardless of the LSU blowout. Like I said: um, okay, whatever. I didn't ask for any words put in my mouth, but feel free to find somebody who likes that and talk to him or her. oh spare me. look at the things you said. while you did not say those exact words, it is what you said.

  8. in that case UCLA should be taken out of D1.
  9. how on earth does a team rack up 500+ yards with only two turnovers, and manage to score only 14 points? looks to me like if their coach punts the ball once out of the three times they lost it on downs, they likely win the game.

  11. 1. Georgia wasn't ranked when Kentucky played them last year, nor was Clemson, so I'm not sure where your second Top 25 team comes from. 2. are you really going to use last year as a basis for this year? while close wins over MSU, Vandy, LA-monroe, and Clemson may bedazzle you, they are completely irrelevant. by that measure, Wisconsin Badgers should be #1 because they have the longest winning streak in the country.

  14. that's why you need 3 TVs going at the same time that way you get to watch three commercials at once.
  15. Marshall gets that same location called a strike, and this is a much different game.
  16. what did kendall do?? swinging strike in the dirt, weiner throw IN THE DIRT to first, DLEE can't scoop it, but swipes it out of the air, but ump rules it pulled him off the bag. Runner safe. Marshall implodes, hatred for Kendall ensues. fixed.
  17. What blown calls? apparently Kendall's throw beat Ludwick that wasn't the issue. the issue was that it was a bad throw that Lee couldn't scoop, but he swiped it out of the air with his foot on the bag, and the ump ruled him safe anyway. he was out by about 8 feet.
  18. spare me Molina. he did that twice in the same at bat last night.
  19. bad throw, but he was still out. second blown call tonight.
  20. pitch was actually on the way to the plate.
  21. some computer simulation i saw had them facing three times this year. for that to happen, i would assume usc and ou have to have 2 losses a piece and win their conference. if both teams have one loss to each other and thats it...why not have a third game? if I'm not mistaken, you're not too hip on the Big 10. so tell me, did you think that way last year when everyone decided that UM shouldn't be able to have another crack at OSU?
  22. alright Big 10, any of you ready to figure out how to stop the spread offense, or are you just going to continue embarrassing yourselves. I scoffed at people saying how Illinois is going to be right up with the big boys sooner than everyone thinks, but if these teams can't make this adjustment, it's only a matter of time. you can't stop App St, UNLV and the Citadel, what the hell chance are you going to stand against Juice. you'd think Bielema would get a clue after his defense has been embarrassed by Illinois and NU several times the past few years. get this crap straightened out now, damnit.
  23. I thought OSU might surprise with their returning offensive weapons, wow. Getting beat Between the Hedges is one thing, getting punked by Troy is quite another. Their head coach makes Pinkel look like Belichek.. if he cheats that much, you think he could pull out a W.
